Nigerians keep talking about the use and abuse of the office of the first lady, how constitutional or otherwise the position is, whether the spouse of the president should be heard, seen, unheard or unseen. Let us attempt to prove just how relevant or irrelevant the first lady's office is and my first poser is, in future if the president is a woman will the husband become the 'first man', like we have the 'first lady'? Is there any history anywhere in the world where a name like 'office of the first man' exists? If it doesn't would it then mean that calling the wife of the President 'first lady' and allowing her to perform certain duties, which sometimes clash her with elected officials, but purporting to act for that office which is not known to our laws is wrong, illegal and unconstitutional? What do you think? Please let's have your reactionns. Moderator, front page please!
