Wordpress Cms is a powerful online tool that offers large amount of advantages to webmasters.......regarded as the most widely used cms platform in the world , 25% of websites found on the web are wordpress...with hundreds of wordpress blogs created daily , hackers have developed a suite of tools and tricks exclusively for breaking into and exploiting WordPress blogs , so it is essential that you beef up your blog's security so as to avoid being an easyprey for hackers....

Tips To Strenghten Security On Your Wordpress Website

If you own a wordpress website this tips will be useful to prevent hackers from having a filled day on your website.....

1) Use A Unique Dashboard Username : when it comes to securing your wordpress website your username is very important...your username is always required when attempting to login to your dashboard and so using a unique username will help secure your dashboard......Use a name that you've never used online..<it musn't be anything related to you or your website name> .

2) Use A Strong Password For Your Dashboard : Password guessing is another method used by hackers when hacking......an hacker can reserach all about you <your name , dob , age , nicknames> , and then try to figure out your dashboard password , so having a strong password is very important....A strong password should have the following attributes :

** It Shouldn't be anything related to you
**It Should contain a mixture of numbers and symbols..

3)Move Your Blog's Configuration File

Your configuration file contains all sorts of information about your blog that cannot be gotten without reading it directly, and which could potentially aid a hacker in breaking into your blog. This is bad news, because the configuration file is always named “wp-config.php” by default, and it’s always stuck in the exact same place: your WordPress directory. Hackers who get aholdof it will find themselves very close to having access to sensitive information on your blog. The way to stop them is to move the file so that hackers aren’t sure where it is, and they’re forced to guess randomly what its location might be. When you move it, WordPress will automatically search your site for it and locate it. By contrast, finding the configuration file would take hours for a hacker, and most won’t bother. They’ll just leave you alone and that, after all, is what you want

4)Block Unwanted Ip Address :

Not from your entire blog, but only from the admin panel, which is what a hacker likely would try to access. This is a very effective trick that will make your blog immune to themost dangerous type of hacking, which is when a hacker gets onto your admin panel and then takes total control of your WordPress site and all the information saved in it. In this scenario, a hacker could even lock you out of your own site and make it difficult (if not impossible) for you to get back in. To prevent that, edit your htaccess file to include a list of IP addresses that are allowed to access the admin panel. This only requires editing the “white list” line to include your IP address; once that’s done, no one working from any other location will be able to get onto the admin panel. Remember that if you are using a commercial ISP, your IP address will change periodically, and you will then have to update the htaccess file on your web server.

5)Use Wordpress Security Plugins :

Plugin feature is that extra edge wordpress has over other website platforms......you can beefup your blog's security by using wordpress security plugin ....plugins like ''WordFence'' Helps to secure your blog and also alerts you via email about failed attempts to login to your wordpress dashboard....

6) Hide The Admin Login Page : We all know that the default url to login to your dashboard is 'www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin'' and so therefore anyone that plans to access your admin panel will have to go through that url....you can prevent that from happening hiding or renaming that ''Wp-Admin'' folder to another name of your choice ... Once that is done , only you will be able to access your admin panel and it will be almost impossible for hackers to access you'r admin panel....they'ld have no choice than to leave you alone...
