Amen. My brother, don't worry. It is well. But it will be worth considering other options like is being suggested.

On 30th December 2013, I wrote this:
BrabusNG: My Fix 1

One of the main problem with this plot is the slope. The land slopes toward the house and surface water ponds near the foundation wall. I intend to construct a V-ditch around the house (especially on the sloping side) to allow surface drainage from both the foundation wall and the other yard areas to a storm drain further downhill.

This fix applies to plots where the front street is higher than the land/foundation or when the house is built on the side of a hill.

I am afraid Sir Jamesqu is right! Eventually you'll need a compound drainage to redirect all waters.

Sir Tony John is also a Nairaland client and that was the fix we did for him after his fence fell 3 times.

I don't think it's condemnation really. I've already suggested this even right from the foundation stage. God will provide the permanent solution and the fund to tackle the problem.

Thank you.

Why are you bothering yourself to shout 'Chineke God of Umuahaia!'?. This is the typical mentality of most Nigerians. Iam sure that when Brabus told him the same thing, he must have also said that he rejected it in Jesus name and iam sure he even called his Pastor to come and bind and cast out all evils from what will make the fence to fall down. Na the fence keeps falling down and he keeps patching it and he is even not ready to learn from the experience of another.

We have a saying in my place that goes 'wetin concern vulture with plaiting of hair'. So nothing concern me. It is your money, your project and your house. you are free to spend it the way you like and you are also free to 'reject any condemnation in Jesus name. Amen'. cool

Hi Qc1

Can you give an estimate, a rough one, of the amount spent so far, please?

Just a close one will do.

Cheers.

Lastpage!

BTW: why did you not consider using one of those very thick PVC, Nylon-like material (cant remember what it is called) to cover the foundation (before pouring concrete on the floor) to prevent water,humidity/Capillarity action from affecting the floor and walls?
I have seen it used in places.

Raft foundation alone was about N4. 5m

Rafted fence with middle beam was N1.7m

Evething you saw in the last pic cost N9. 5m

If you have a good land and don't need the raft foundation and also don't need the urgency have to fence it your project right away, then N4.5m should do. I'm about to do the roof for another N2m...you might wanna trough that in the budget too.

Yes the DPC was covered with the plastic you were referring to. See the pic below.

And in case you are wondering about builders, then I strongly recommend Brabus.

Hope that will help.

Buying a Land or Building in Lagos: Know the Setback Requirements.

Planning is a system that orders the use and development of land for the benefit of our communities. The overall aim of planning is to ensure a balance between enabling development while at the same time conserving and protecting the environment and local amenities. The idea is to create better and balanced environment for people to live, work, play, pray, recreate and move around with utmost ease.

Okay. Thank you so much. It's a dry land on the mainland in Lagos, hard soil.
