At the risk of sounding superstitious, I think we need to start wondering what exactly is causing the members of the famous USA 94 Nigerian team to die at an early age.

The team, perhaps the most talented squad ever assembled by an african side, has lost 3 prominent members in their forties.
and many will recollect that keeper Rufai fainted and was almost at the point of death before being resuscitated in a hospital sometimes last year.

This is a statistical oddity.

For the superstitious, there is actually more information to make you worried about the link between this team and DEATH.....
* First, the building of the 94 team began with the the hiring of coach Clemens Westerhoof.
And guess what happened on the day of Westerhoof's first assignment with the eagles (as an observer in the world cup qualifying game against Angola) ? Sammy Okwaraji slumped and died on the pitch.

* The emergence of the team as a force in african soccer coincided with the world cup qualifying series in 1993 - guess what happened then ? The entire Zambian team crashed on their way to honour a world cup qualifier of the coast of Gabon - Deat again (iwanyanwu National also lost two players, one benin boy and their reserve goalkeeper, to a plan crash during that period)

* The legacy of the team was established after winning the 1994 nations cup. No prize for guessing who they beat in the final - Zambia - A team mourning the death of their fallen colleagues.

* USA '94 was their shining moment, death did not forget to show his face, that was the only time I ever heard of a player participating at the world cup dying before the close of the tournament - We're talking about Andre Escobar.

* The team signed of in 95 (to be replaced by the atlanta 96 team), that year, in an unprecedented wave, we lost Amir Angwe (who slumped on the pitch) and Igheniwari George (Finidi's younger brother, who was short after a challenge cup match in Ibadan).

STARNGE THINGS !!!

Buddha once said

There are these four ways of answering questions. Which four?
1. There are questions that should be answered categorically [straightforwardly yes, no, this, that].
2. There are questions that should be answered with an analytical (qualified) answer [defining or redefining the terms].
3. There are questions that should be answered with a counter-question.
4. There are questions that should be put aside.
These are the four ways of answering questions.

I first thought your questions belong to category 3 but upon closer reflection, I realized that they were actually in category four

Agbonivbare's death once again highlights the relevance of this thread.

May he rest in peace and I hope his remaining teammates will live a good and long life!
