@topic,could this be coincidence that two air disasters happen consecutively within the space of less than 48hrs? Has prophet T.B Joshua prophesied about them? Or would he soon come and claim to have prophesied about them?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An air taxi crashed Sunday at a small Alaska airport, killing all 10 people on board and leaving the aircraft fully engulfed in flames before firefighters could get to it, authorities said.

The de Havilland DHC3 Otter air taxi crashed just after 11 a.m. at the airport in Soldotna, a community about 75 miles southwest of Anchorage and located on the Kenai Peninsula.

"We do have 10 fatalities, unfortunately, nine passengers, one pilot," National Transportation Safety Board investigator Clint Johnson told The Associated Press.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Otter was operated by Rediske Air, based out of another Kenai Peninsula community, Nikiski.

Will Satathite, who was working Sunday at Rediske Air's Nikiski office, confirmed to the Peninsula Clarion newspaper that the aircraft was flown by Nikiski pilot and company owner Willy Rediske with nine passengers onboard.

A man who didn't identify himself at the Rediske office declined comment later Sunday to the AP, saying the crash was under investigation.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Meagan Peters said the aircraft erupted in flames and the fire initially kept firefighters from reaching the wreckage. The victims have not been identified.

The Soldotna Police Department said Sunday evening that the remains of all 10 people have been recovered and sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for autopsies and positive identifications.

Police said in a release through the Alaska State Troopers that weather at the time of the crash was reported to be cloudy with a light wind.

Johnson said initial reports have the plane crashing after departure, but that will have to be confirmed by investigators.

The NTSB is sending an investigative team from Washington, D.C., and they are scheduled to arrive Monday afternoon. Also taking part will be Alaska-based investigator Brice Banning, who was called back from the Asiana crash in San Francisco Sunday.

For many Alaskans, flying across the state is common because of the limited road system, exposing residents to a litany of hazards including treacherous mountain passes and volatile weather. It's possible to drive from Anchorage to Soldotna, but it's about a four-hour trip as the highway hugs Turnagain Arm and then cuts through a mountain passage.

Alaska has already seen a several plane crashes this year, including a June 28 crash that killed a pilot and two passengers on a commercial tour in the Alaska Range. The Soldotna crash comes a day after two teenagers were killed when the Asiana flight crashed at San Francisco's airport.

The municipal airport is located about a mile from Soldotna's commercial business area and is adjacent to the Kenai River, according to the city's website.

The runway is 5,000 foot long and paved.

If na Nigeria these sellouts for come here dey yarn dust.

Did you know that there were 10 passengers on board? It was an air taxi. Road travel in Alaska is often limited, so taking air taxis isn't unusual.

Now, if you'd like to compare a domestic air taxi carrying 10 passengers to international airbuses such as the Asiana plane, then be my guest.

Smaller planes crashing in the US isn't unique at all. It happens often due to poor flying conditions and very poor piloting at times.

Poor visibility was involved in this crash, and even though the fire was put out within 10 minutes, it was too late for all passengers.

The first incident was an Asian airliner and this is a small aircraft according to you. How long will you continue to fabricate more excuses in defense of your almighty US?

Asiana IS a foreign airliner, South Korean to be exact. The Alaskan plane was a small charter plane piloted by the owner of the private company in cloudy and windy conditions. These are facts, not excuses.

Not only are you comparing apples and oranges, you are failing to realize that tens of thousands of airliners fly every day, and probably more charter planes. Two planes out of the hundreds of thousands in the air crashed in one weekend, for a total of 12 dead. Less than 0.00005% of planes crash (approximately 90,000 planes are air bound in the US every day) and 1 out of 1.6 million passengers perish perish each year. It's unfortunate that 12 were lost this weekend as one wishes these things never happen. Flying still remains the safest mode of travel, however.

Despite the fact that all 10 passengers died in Alaska, firefighters were there asap and had the fire put out within 10 minutes. What else can we expect from them? They did their best. Every day can't be a good day.

You wish to compare, so I'll leave you with this: if I had to crash, I would choose to crash in the US over Nigeria any day.

Whether na alien ufo crash, the crux of the matter here is there was a record breaking multiple air crashes in US consuming lives. What's your point here?

So, it's now acceptable to have air crash after tens of thousands of flight hours in the US. This is new to me.

Record-breaking? According to who?

Major crashes are a rarity here. The Korean airliner was due to piloting error. The pilot landing the plane was the most inexperienced out of all four. He has very little experience with a 777. It was also his first time landing in San Francisco and did not receive help (or enough of it) from his more-experienced peers. It was too low, too slow, and they did not signal for help until 1.5 seconds before impact.

As for the Alaskan crash, it's an unfortunate tragedy. No one is saying it's okay, but put things in perspective. 2 planes crashing out of approximately 90,000 is 0.000022%. Of course one would wish the number is 0, but that's life for you. Crashes will happen due to mechanics, human error, or circumstances beyond their control, such as weather. The USA does a great job in preventing crashes and preventing loss of life if they do happen. The USA isn't perfect and never will be, but they certainly know how to be the best or one of the best in a lot.

If you choose to not crash at all, then stay home. Life can never be without disaster. Disasters can be reduced, and they have been immensely, at least over here.

Some folks will insult the president if he makes a statement like this. even if its a fact. If this had happened in Nigeria, lots of folks will focus on blaming Aso-rock. I'm not attacking you but just considering if this actually happened in Nigeria. People will scream "failed system", "failed nation" "failed leadership" etc forgeting that we are all stakeholders in the Nigeria Project.
Re: Another Aircrash In USA- Killing 10 by Nobody: 6:26pm On Jul 08, 2013
Would they scream such things because a plane crashed or because of lack of response and efficiency in such situations? Masonkz is right. Disasters happen everywhere. It's not everywhere that firefighters run out of water, or that runway lights are off because there's no power.
