The polytechnic education system here in Nigeria receives no attention from the government as the challenges facing it are not addressed at all. This makes it hard for anyone studying or have graduated from this institution to excel, that's why almost all Nigerians are doing all they can to avoid studying in it. Some of the things militating against this institution of higher learning are not noticed by the govt. of Nigeria, thats part of the reason why ASUP is on strike but, the govt. seems to be comfortable with it. The issues of HND and Polytechnics have been addressed long time ago by all the affected countries except Nigeria. Regretfully, Most of our leaders here attended such institutions abroad and enjoyed it but, they are here in Nigeria messing around. Why can't we face the reality? Or are we not competent? Or do we want to make mockery of some fellow Nigerians because we failed to resolve our challenges? This is wrong for the Nigerian govt. and us all! ASUP should be heard and called for negotiation by the Federal government and get this strike called off. If the challenges facing Polytechnic education in Nigeria are addressed and corrected, I believe Nigeria will be a better place. There is no gain in frustrating and limiting Polytechnic graduates. Everything is not politics! Education is education and politics is politics.
