PHCN and investors are set to make N1b monthly for doing nothing. PHCN and their new investors have increased the Fixed charge for Prepaid meters from N225 to N500 and now N750. We are told the target is N1000 monthly.

What this means is that, PHCN and the New investors, can go to bed, do nothing and still collect N1b every month from 1 Million subscribers of Prepaid meters. My God! How can this be happening?!

Wasn't the essence of the prepaid meters to ensure PHCN make electricity available and when it's not available, we don't pay as against the past when we usually paid NEPA for not giving Light?

With this introduction of High Fixed Charges, why would a company be willing to provide regular electricity when they are guaranteed a sum of N1b every month whether they work or not. I just don't understand the formulation of laws in this country.

Its such a shame what corruption has turned our politicians into. Monsters with no heart. This has to stop.

Its like GSM companies charging us N750 for just owning a Hand set. We are been charged N750 for owning a meter and yet we still pay electricity rates. Its wrong.

I can't really understand why the fixed charges was introduced in the first place. I bought prepaid meter from PHCN with my money at a very high cost and every month i will still cough out N750 for meter maintenance charge including VAT. Not that the meter is free, Only in Nigeria can this kind of daylight robbery happen.

Omo, i never knew this until I went yesterday with my 13k after recharging over a year ago cos i prefer to do bulk payment.
I was shocked when all that my money could give me was about 2.5k credit, the rest was taken as charges. I wanted to faint.

Two wrongs wouldn't make it right.....its a sin bypassing no matter what condition or reason attached...Cheating has no other name. Disconnect totally, and seek for other source of electricity if u aint okay with their ridiculous terms and conditions!

Me don kukuma disconnect my prepaid meter and join my wire direct to source...

When PHCN give me steady light then make dem expect me to subscribe to their tariffs...

Where the hell is occupy Nigeria when you need them?

The question now is what can we do to stop to stop this extortion,the rates are getting high and we just keep lamenting cos they know there is nothing we can do.
We need to make a move,this is corruption,there is no accountability and the fixed charge has really not been used for electricity improvement.

It is the type of disregard that we have let them pass unto our citizens. It is time people , it is time my fellow citizens to take this country back. This is the equivalent of another subsidy scandal/ double charges for unprovided services. They are testing how far they can squeeze you and I. This is a scam by this shadowy and corrupt govt. Send it out on twitter/facebook ------ all state house of assembly and govt house in the country need to see the face of their struggling contituents and tell us if this is fair...... start the surcharge & corruption protest---- I smell a tea part soon, it is time!!!

Why are you complaining @OP ? I thought some NLERS said all Nigerians now have access to electricity even when Amanpour showed the ineptitude of Jonathan to the world.so if you are enjoying the electricity as the Association of fresh Air bootlickers claimed,then you should be ready to pay for it !
