Diamond Bank Plc yesterday relieved over 100 of its staff their jobs, for not measuring up to the Bank’s measuring standard.

National Mirror was told that those affected, which included those that have spent over five years with the bank have been given their sack letters.

According to a source close to the bank, there was palpable tension and a brief stop of office activities at the headquarters of the Bank in Lagos where many of those affected were serving.

It was gathered that the financial institution allegedly downsizing was necessitated due to low patronage, which the bank is experiencing in recent times.

National Mirror was not able to get the actual number of those sacked, but was told the number is over 100.

A company source however said the affected staff were those who performed below average in the bank’s yearly assessment test.

I don't know why people / graduate are still pursing bank job.
My friend was sacked Januarary and the wife that is taking care
of house expense was lay off from FCMB VS FIN BANK saga.
The whole family now just there sleeping and waking without no where
to go.What a life that our so bank has caused

Thank God things are getting better. before before, they used to sack 2000, then God intervened and they reduced the quarterly sacking to 1200...then God intervened again - 700, and God intervened again, 400, and God intervened again - 250 and God intervened again 150, and God intervened again 110, and God intervened again, 105, and God intervened again, 101, and God intervened again now it is 100...

Bankers need to have a body protecting them. Nlc is an example!!!!

A bank has no business hiring more than 1000 people if they are actually putting the right technologies in place. Apart from Security Guards, the bank doesnt need much staff apart from database, network and policy makers and marketers. They should learn from America's revolutionary internet banking technologies.

10th day in the 7th month, 2013 budget hasn't passed.. Plus the high unemployment, a bank is still pushing more to be unemployed in the already over saturated level of unemployment in the country.
