PointB: Mr Ngige,

Did Fashola tell you how long those people were in his detention camps? You reported that most of them had no relatives in Lagos, what about those who had relatives, was effort made to to reach them? Were they aware that their missing relatives were languishing in some detention camps?

Did the Anambra State Government agree to receive all those dumped on the bridge including none Anambra indigenes?

Let's call a spade a spade, it was the the most unkindest cut by Fashola at the heart of these people. I surmise that their only crime is that they were presumed poor and couldn't speak .Yoruba
Can you tell us where this detention camp is located since you have spoken to those that were held there

Anambra Orders Arrest and Deportation of Child
Beggars

The Anambra state government has issued a warning to all
street beggars, especially children used by their parents to
beg for alms, to vacate the streets or be arrested.

29 of such women who displayed their children as strategy
for getting alms have already been arrested in Awka and
Onitsha, and repatriated to their home states; Ebonyi and
Akwa Ibom states.

The state commissioner for Women Affairs and Social
Development, Dr. Ego Cordelia Uzoezie, disclosed Friday in
Awka when a middle-aged woman was arrested for begging
with nine children at various points in Awka.

Uzoezie said her attention was drawn to the spectacle when
one of the children who begged at the Unizik junction, Awka,
six-year-old Goodnews Sunday, was hit in the jaw by an
Okada rider, while he begged.

Uzoezie decried the attitude of some parents who used their
children to beg for alms, and warned that after 72 hours any
beggar seen in the state would be arrested by the law
enforcement agents and the special task force of the ministry
of women affairs and social development.

The question you and your type failed to ask is..

Is their any prior intimation to Anambra state govt...of the impeding movement of people from Lagos to the East?

Up till now ...Obi is feigning ignorance of any prior communication with the LASG....all in a bid to score cheap political points from gullible Ibos.

By the time the whole truth of this saga is revealed...most of you will be ashamed of your utterance here and disappointed in Sissy Adaobi.

Does prior communication justify dumping them at the bridge head in the dead of the night? They are human beings for crying out loud, not cargoes; they could be poor or hapless but still they are humans, and deserved better! I don't know why you are so heartless, wicked, barbaric in your argument and thinking - you and some of your folks here!
Re: Deportation Of Igbos From Lagos: Senator Ngige Speaks by Nobody: 12:53pm On Aug 02, 2013
Most of the people deported are mad people and hopeless beggars sleeping under d bridge na, so wasn't it best to take them home?

Gov Obi is a weak man, he was informed before hand but decided to back off at the last minute and let his people (people he doesn't care about) languish at the bridge.

Which is why Fashola said that anybody who is aggrieved should go to court. I watched the video of the man from Kano that was relocated back to Kano and I know that the social welfare ministry keeps records of all its activities (including videos). I just hope someone will take this matter to court so that we can see what the result will be.

The simple truth is that there is a repatriation process because the government feels that it is better to reunite people with their families and re-integrate them into society, rather than throwing them in jail.

It is also a better way to ensure that they do not return to the streets. If they were simply picked up and bussed out of Lagos, then it's just common sense that they can easily return on the next bus and the whole effort would have been futile and a waste of resources.

Now Ngige has provided evidence - a letter written by the Anambra State Government in which they agreed to receive these people. Let's hear what Aka Ikenga will say after they visit Fashola.

People are just using this issue to score political points ahead of the Anambra elections.

chukwudi44: Chris Ngige just buried his gubernatorial dreams. It would have been better for him to remain silent. So Anambra is now a dumping ground for destitutes pan nigeria? Fashola claimed he wrote to peter obi yet he brought people from differant states in the SS/SE and dumped them in onitsha. Why didn't he also consult the other Governors whoose natives were invloved? Why did they come in @ that ungodly hour if they drop was supposed to be official? There are just bunch of lairs trying grapple @ straws to justify their inhuman acts.

Shameless people, now they want to crucified Ngige.
If fashola claim that he wrote letter to Anambra state govt which they reply and Anambra really have their people @heart they would have ask even their indigine who are in lagos to confirm if those people are really their indigine or send their state social welfare team to come and pick their indigine just the way lagos govt claim they went to Akwa-ibom to pick their indigine from rehab centre in uyo. Their is notting like odd time when it comes to things like this. If they can go to the airport to pick their governor by 2:pm why can't state official go and get their people by 4:pm.

So you are telling us here that your family lives at Onitsha bridge head? That it is safe, great, and fair to dump you or any of your relative at some bridge head by 3.00 am in the morning? You are also telling us it is proper to keep people against their will for up to 6 months against their will prior to such deportation?

I think you rather face your history photo journalism, this is a tad too complicated for you!

In other words,
1.Its right to deport ...sorry... reunite them with their people at 2:00am.
2.Irrespective of their state of origin, its Anambra (Ngige's state) that should be the dumping site.
3.Kept in a hard conditions and fed badly for months against their wish .

Ngige ... am completely disappointed but all the same you spoke like a party man (APC). Waiting for you at the poiling unit!! SIMPLE!!!!!!

For promotion and maintenance of the good relationship that exists between the Igbos who form about 25% of the population of Lagos State and their Lagos host, I have secured an appointment for you, the President and Executive members of Aka Ikenga to further discuss this matter and other sundry issues affecting Ndi Igbo in Lagos State, with the Lagos State Governor on a date that will be mutually agreed by both parties.

, I wish to further reassure you and Aka Ikenga in particular and Ndi Igbo in general, that the government of Lagos State, that I am familiar with does not and will not harbour any anti Igbo agenda, as being, insinuated in some certain quarters.

Accept as usual the assurances of my highest regards.

So 4am is the agreed time, I assume that because Senator Ngige only said that the event occured at the agreed date but no time was stated.
Also Lagos state, one of the states making up the Federal Republic of Nigeria has become a *host state* to some citizens of Nigeria...... Senator, I believe you know best.
my advice is that my Anambara brothers and sisters should reply senator Ngige at the polls

Shameless sellout.

If Ngige eventually becomes governor (God forbid). He will ratify the deportation of all Igbos from Lagos.

Soon igbos will be required to obtain a visa to enter or live in Lagos that they co-own.

God is exposing the saboteurs.

More than 113 destitute people have
been cleared from the streets of Port
Harcourt metropolis following raids by
a Special Committee on Raiding of
Vagrants, Lunatics and Street Beggars
in the Rivers State Ministry of Social
Welfare and Rehabilitation.
Chairman of the committee, Mr Mina
Jamabo, gave details of their activities
in an interview with newsmen in Port
Harcourt, stressing that the ministry
has worked out measures to ensure
that the menace of the presence of
lunatics and beggars was cut to the
barest minimum within the state.
He attributed the menace to high use of
illicit drugs and rigours of city life,
adding that Port Harcourt, just like
other big cities like Lagos, was an
omnibus city where all kinds of people
flock in to make a living.
The committee chairman explained that
the terminus status of the city of Port
Harcourt was responsible for the influx
of lunatics and beggars, but noted that
the ministry had evolved measures to
curb it, disclosing that the raiding
would be continuous rather than
occasional.
“Our plan is working because most of
the non-indigenous communities have
started working with us such that when
we want to repatriate some people
they assist us”, Jamabo said.
He further said that those
arrested would first be
rehabilitated at the Iriebe
welfare centre after which
non-indigenes are repatriated
back to their states of origin.

The real enemies of the Igbos is the Igbos and not other tribes, If Ngige should endorse this discrimination and inhumane treatment on fellow human beings irrespective of tribe and ethnicity. So Lagos state government offices open by 4am under eko bridge? So Lagos state government doesn't know state house in awka again? Ngige have shown the same behavior the so called useless group called OHANEZE displayed by going to kano to show support for amnesty for murderers(boko haram) after they bombed bus terminals owned by Igbos in kano. OHANEZE didn't visit peaceful MASSOB members languishing in prisons and police cells in Igbo land for peaceful association as their offense. OHANEZE was no where to be found when Massob members was killed and dumped in esu river there in Igbo land.
So sorry for the Igbos under their so called useless IGBO leaders. Ojukwu is the only leader Igbos have even at death.

GOD Bless you!!! You will live long. May you live longer!!!

Acn and apc don't need igbo people carry on voting for pdp. At least fashola shows a sign of concern for his state your leaders need to the same. That's why you all are been deported all over the world. You start caring about your state don't worry about ours.

We don't encourage people to live under the bridge if you do, do you want fashola to build a mansion for them ? Igbo people need to know that we ( yoruba people ) are moving on and not waiting for people to set us back for know reason.

We are going to make our land look like our own new york City, you can make yours look like mugadishu if you want.

Igbo people need to speak to their leaders, its clear here that they don't have visionary leaders.

we need more information on this matter. LASG may be helping some homeless pple in lagos...Gov obi may be aware of this pact to bring back these pple, eventhough not at the time they need...the returned pple may have requested that they shud be brought back 'east'...the LASG official may have wanted to avoid lynching by angry upper iweka mobs if they had arrived in the daytime.

wonder what a woman Like you will teach her children. In the face of truth you have chosen to play the tribalism
