Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by kazey(m): 4:24pm On May 28, 2006
Would the moluee co-operative, likely tolerate a competition in their midst? I doubt so smiley

Except you want to invest into moluees or express?
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by shashxxl(m): 4:31pm On May 28, 2006
perhaps buying one of those{express}and leasing to operators, intra state or interstate
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by kazey(m): 4:34pm On May 28, 2006
Well yes you can develop a beautiful model with that. An orgranised express renting company smiley. Atleast you would create lots of jobs opportunities.

You can have your own arranged mechanics etc.

Surely this could be profitable smiley.
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by Badman888(m): 6:01pm On May 28, 2006
thats the main thing about Nigeria, alot of people have the ideas talent to do this, but with the whole organization and its policy its hard to fulfil this dream. The transport is a very good idea but to tap into the market is not easy.
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by Seun(m): 11:48am On May 29, 2006
There's nothing special about this business. Buy a luxury bus and take it to the garage. Operate it with a greater amount of respect for passengers and charge more. This will bring naira into your pocket. grin
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by kazey(m): 11:54am On May 29, 2006
@ Seun And the moluee gang would be happy with him? Getting your car vandalised or your drivers attacked, wont be funny brother smiley That is Lagos for show wink
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by otokx(m): 12:16pm On May 29, 2006
please come to port harcourt, there are no molues here.
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by Seun(m): 2:17pm On May 29, 2006
Why won't they be happy if you settle them very well? Giving of 'gifts' to stakeholders is allowed!
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by OldGlory1(m): 4:51pm On May 29, 2006
Give people security on your buses, and do not overcrowd, that should make you unique and make your pockets grow.
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by LoverBwoy(m): 5:34pm On May 29, 2006
Tell whoever is in charge of the business not to carry overload _ policy

and try carrying passengers only no SACKS OF GARRI, DRUMS OF PALM OIL, u can focus on specific routes like students, office workers, this will reduce ur maintance cost and will be safer in the long run

make sure it has seat belts for everyone
nice padded chairs grin
uniform for the drivers n conductors
have a logo if you have more than 1 bus

grin
Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by obua: 9:10pm On Jul 03, 2006
Long distance travel is good. I saw astudy some years ago about using a luxury bus costing N23m to transport people from east to west of Nigeria. Average daily return is about N100k ie without considering operational cost.
Pay back is less 2 years. That is why ABC is doing very well.
Actually I hope to start a haulage/courier biz later. It is even more profiatble. I will do the goods delivery much better than ABC with the use of modern ICT .

Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by kingjaja2(m): 8:06pm On Sep 12, 2007
Buy a couple of danfo, put it on the road. My favourite spot/state for transportation business is Lagos. Then comes the challenge:- You need LOYAL & FAITHFUL drivers, You need to settle the area boyz/omo-oniles, if you really prosper you would definately get other registered agencies extorting money from you. grin

Re: Transportation Business In Nigeria by ekitikan(m): 6:55pm On Jan 05, 2012
Comercial bus operators are being shortchanged by the drivers, none remitance of money to the owners, the buses are mismanaged, over used, and yet the owners hardly get the money invested, most owners are looking for someone who can manage the buses for them and remit to them in the shortest possible time return on investment, so most have resolved to give out the buses,on lease purchase, even at that the buses given out dont bring the money.
After taking the bus on lease purchase the driver will remit for some few weeks and then story upon stories by then the drivers would have raked in some few thousand and would have overused the vehicle and dump it, to go look for the next victim.
Our company have experience in the management of commercial bus, we have qualified proffesionals who have driven commercial buses around the Lagos metropolis with vast knowledge of this lucrative business, honesty and integrity is our watchword.
When you come to us our team of specialist would advise you on the kind of bus to buy, before buying, we have on ground with you our technicians who will check the bus properly and make sure it is in ship shape, the bus would be serviced and all faulty parts would be replaced.
Our modus operandi is to get your account details and remit the agreed amount to your account every Friday, this is the same amount that is paid by normal drivers, but where we differ from them is the company takes responsibility for minor repairs which would take nothing from your normal weekly delivery.
The bus would start work by 5:30 am and close by 5:30 pm,unlike your regular danfo driver that work the bus from dawn to dusk, our drivers pass through rigorous screening process before they are employed and knowing the mentality of the normal danfo drivers we are able to curb any of their excesses.
Save yourself the agony of danfo drivers who care little or nothing, nor have your interest at heart contact us today and you would be glad you did.

Please be wary of this guy called Ekitikan (also uses ‘Gade’ on this forum - although he appears to have deleted that ID). He is a fraudster! I am talking from personally experience after responding to one of his adverts on Nairaland. A word is enough for the wise!!

TRANSPORTATION BUSINESS IN NIGERIA IS SUB DIVIDED AS FOLLOWS
1. OIL AND GAS.
2. MANUFACTURING/PRODUCTION
3. SHIPPING/PORT OPERATIONS
4. MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE.
WHICHEVER YOU INVEST IN IT WILL BRING GOOD RETURNS, ONLY THAT MANAGEMENT IS THE PROBLEM. YOU HAVE TO DO YOU RESEARCH AND FINDINGS VERY WELL. THIS STARTS FROM THE TYPE OF CAR,BUS OR TRUCK NEEDED BEFORE RETURNS AND THEREAFTER THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTRACTUAL NEGOTIATION.
