How many Brits come to Nigeria and refuse to leave when their visa expires?

What a clueless government. Just what do they hope to achieve by doing this?

This will be counterproductive. We are the ones crazy about going to their country. Most of them that stay here are usually being invited by way of asking them to come and invest to improve our economy. These people should just channel their energies into keeping our leaders on their toes in order to live up to their responsibilities and make this country better for us all. This way, there will no need getting desperate to go and become slaves once more under the auspices of greener pasture in foreign lands.

Whoever brought this idea should be sacked. If you want to retaliate, you should make sure your target feels the pain.
Very simple and legal way to hurt the UK is to cancel all government scholarship schemes to the UK.

Why on earth would Nigerian people think of going there when money paid as tax is something else. You can't even send money back home.

BarryX: Like the british citizens want to stay in Nigeria?? The ones that stay are begged to stay as expatriates,
Nonsense!
Keep quiet there. Begging who? There is no job in Nigeria an expatriate is doing that a Nigerian cannot do. They should PLEASE leave if possible.

There is no answer there, i ask you again, how will Nigerian govt go about doing that? How will they single-out those two airlines and impose price hike on their tickets?

Olodo. I am giving you one more chance to read it again. "What" school did you attend again?

It is funny that a lot of you guys still don't see this for what it is. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
The UK just wants an "added revenue" stream. The economy is in "shambles". They need all the money they can get. They know the bond will only guarantee more visa inquiries since NIGERIANS ALREADY SPEND more than that to "ARRANGE" visas anyway. The expectation is that visa applications will increase and they'll probably see less than 30% return to collect their "bond" back.

Until our politicians stop stashing our money abroad, no country will respect us. How many British citizens do visit Nigeria for vacation that we are increasing our visa bond fee?

The way our government is going about handling this issue won't bring a solution to it. What our government should do is by pulling out of our bilateral deals and interests with them. That would course an extensive blow, not increasing the visa fee stake.

Someone should tell ambassador Ashiru to do a better job! British companies are in Nigeria extracting crude oil, are they paying tax? Again, all the bi lateral deals we're having with them should be put on hold. These are some of the ways we can fight them not increasing visa bond stake.

If Obafemi Awolowo, Tafa Balewa and Nnamdi Azikiwe can obtain our freedom without firing a shot, the present crop of politicians and ambassadors should be able to do better. Someone should tell Ambassador Ashiru to increase our stake and do a better job.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

I have a different approach to this bond... it will be Nigeria that will be affected. The half Nigerian/ Half British that are always coming home using their British passport will be affected and for businessmen their Nigerian companies will pay the bond not from their pockets... so at the end of the day it will be Nigeria and Nigerian paying the bonds for the British

This is unfair !!

Many so called 'British Visitors' to Nigeria already pay over 500 Pounds for flights to VISIT FAMILY and FRIENDS in Nigeria ! There are many of us who are BORN RAISED HERE, and are even 2nd and third generation Born in UK !

Why should we even need Visa's when our school mates from Carribean and other places can visit their fatherland without constant financial harassment and embargoes. The FGN is hurting their own people in diaspora by spitting into the sky.

Its time for UK Naija Brits to GET A NIGERIAN PASSPORT instead of using our UK ones... Or go elsewhere for holidays.. sad

2 million nigerians r in the uk and half of them would likely want to over-stay dir visits while we have not upto 2000 brits in non which I'm sure will fly on the next available flight except if dey r earning "illegally" or "geometrically" than in other place.

That is our only weapon over the brits. Ensure stiffer measures for operation in nigeria. Relax the tax holiday dey usually enjoy as a result of common wealth. Increase d import duties for dir products. Etc..

Now, I truly believe the saying that every people deserve the leadership they get! See how all of us here on NL and our so called leaders are cheerfully substituting infantile emotional response and tantrums for public policy.

Retaliate! Retaliate!! suck it to them!!.

Let me remind you guys how that "retaliation" works out in practice. The US imposed a very high visa fee for Nigerians wishing to go to the US. Of course, we do not like that and retaliated by imposing our own high fees too. Problem, you go to the US embassy in Lagos or Abuja, you see Nigerians with Nigerian passports lining up to pay the fees to go to US. You go to the Nigerian embassy in NY or DC and what do you see? Nigerians (as in Dele, Emeka, Ahmed) with US passports lining up to pay for the visa to come home to their families!

Talk about cutting off you nose to spite your face

You are really clever you know? So the solution is to hike ticket price that will affect every Nigerian? And how will Nigerian govt do that? Force BA to increase their ticket price or what?

cheesy cheesy cheesy, one can only be glad that the goverment of Naija is not ran from NL forum.

Cannot stop loughing! cheesy cheesy cheesy
