Please I am also on airtel #1200 monthly BIS plan but in the last three days I ve not been able to open applications (Facebook, What's app, Google mail, Hotmail, Yahoomail, even android market etc) for android. A friend just told me that airtel has blocked the BIS plan on other OS apart from blackberry (android inclusive). This has rendered my Samsung galaxy almost practically useless cos I can only surf the net thru opera mini and no social networking enjoyment.

My dear, Android OS have no stand-alone tariff plans on their own. What is used by Android, iOS, Symbian, Windows and your USB sticks is called HSI (High Speed Internet) service, which have no form of dedicated servers anywhere in the whole world. What the networks operators are doing is routing the HSI Internet service via their own servers and thereby defining the cost to be burn by their subscribers themselves (operators). Even the regulators (NCC) have no say here.
However, on the case of BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), apart from Airtel here in Nigeria that I know rout their BIS services via their own servers, BIS have dedicated servers worldwide owned by Blackberry (formerly RIM), which every single BIS operator worldwide connects in order to offer compressed data services by Blackberry to their subscribers. This is the factor responsible for the cheaper rates obtainable on the BIS Internet platforms as against the HSI Internet platforms worldwide. I may be wrong though.
Therefore, what you should clamour is the reduction of HSI Internet tariff by our local operators (GLO, MTN, AIRTEL, ETISALAT) to make room for bigger data volume allocations to their HSI Internet subscribers.
This is what I consider best to be carried out by our own local operators. Thank you.

I subscribe N1200/N1400 monthly airtel on android.. It works well and most times, I hardly use 700MB out of 1000MB given before expiration even though android consume data + my constant downloading and 'youtubing'.

The last BIS on my android is even worse.. 4GB for 2months!
I've done everything I could do with the data..
I even used the sim on a Modem, downloaded a software of 663MB (MS Office 2013), yet I still have 2.2GB left.. and the expiration date is near (on Monday).

What am I trying to say?

A N1200 BIS on a Blackberry device is a complete rip off in disguise.. (LOL to think this sh¡t was formerly N3000 sef).
Some of you only use 1/10 of the given data in a month..

There is nothing to rejoice over for a N1200 BIS..
Its practically useless on a phone that runs in Kilobytes, bytes and bits..
