When a nation gets it's independence, it gears towards greater heights. I would love to read the stories/comments of all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora: has the nation gotten to its supposed final destination, is it crawling on the road to development, is it fast developing, is the nation better-off in the hands of the Europeans or is it doing just fine on its own as a free-bird! N/B: By the way, all of you saying happy birthday Nigeria are so wrong! It the Nation's 53yrs of independence Nigeria became a nation state in 1914, so please do the math. Cheers to all and sundry!!! 1 Like |

Though we are not there yet. But with prayers, hard-work and sincerity on the part of our leaders, we will surely get to the promised land. Nigeria is so difficult to rule due to the diversity in culture, language and religion. So, it may take more than we expect for us to fully become a developed nation. We are always in the habit of running the government or the folks at the helms of affairs down each time we have the opportunity, this is not so good. While it is good to criticize, let us also make it a habit to do it constructively. Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim or even a traditionalist, let us all make it a duty to remember the nation called Nigeria in our prayers whenever we call on God or Allah. God can give us incorruptible leaders who will turn every thing around for us. How many times in our lives have we all said "God bless Nigeria"? All we do is speak negative of the country not knowing that prayers can move mountains. I know that one day, very soon, we will get there. I wish my dear country a happy independence day. All roads lead to Houston, Texas this weekend to celebrate. Happy 53rd Naija. 3 Likes |

It depends on how you decide to look at it Nigeria gained independence in 1960 with other African countries (sixteen) and include Mali, Congo, Mauritius, Chad, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gambia etc, and it would be okay to say compared to those Nations, Nigeria is doing just okay, not great, just okay Still, compared to Cyprus (that also gained independence in 1960), we are lagging behind. 7 Likes |

I admire the OP's love for Nigeria. It's touching. I love it as well but I gave up when the fish in Titus "Sardines" reduced to 2. Oh Lord, we need Goodluck in this country. But not as human being. 2 Likes |

i laugh, what independent. Protectorate are independent country. Britain only had military and diplomatic tie with Western Nigeria Eastern Nigeria Northern Nigeria. if you look , you USA have protectorate and some of this protectorate are member of the united nation. you can see that the document included other nation like malawi, zambia etc When a document of independent include other country. The document gave independent to all protectorate which were Zambia Western Nigeria( may have come early) malawi Northern nigeria Zimbabwe Eastern Nigeria etc Mugabe only hate white people because of this document which was hidden by balewa/azikiwe. Look here is the picture of western nigeria parliament , you will see that all the people involve with western nigeria were not nigeria people. western Nigeria VS Ghana game Western Nigeria is an independent nation. You cant create south south or 6 zones out of it. That is illegal . You cant change the term of the agreement inside Nigeria, the only way you can change the term of the argument is if you break up nigeria back to the unit it was before and now renegotiation that agreement. You can see from this united nation document western nigeria was self governed. Why is this man dress as the emir of ilorin in this picture. You will loss like you lost bakassi The government of Western Nigeria is celebrating Western Nigeria day 15th November of this years. you can see others , that i am tell you, the truth , that Goodluck Jonathan is an Illegal govt. Sir Grantley Herbert Adams Premier of Barbados George Cadle Price Premier of British Honduras Augustus Blaize became Grenada's first Premier |
