I believe everyone might at one time or the other lost someone close. It is a painful experience as one won't just stop thinking that the late fellow would never ever be alive again. This Thread is such an emotional one which brings everyone together. It reminds one that this life is just as good as the present moment; noone is guaranteed the next minute. Why won't we keep being good at all time (most especially those that believe in the life after death)?
RIP to the dear loved ones.

She use to pay me much money for a little job, i swear, she is the most kind lady i have ever met in my life. So caring, soft spoken, humble, & generous. She died during childbirth, i have not even go to console her husband about her death, because i feel she just cant die. Her name is patricia, pls pray for them all.

The truth is that when someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.

I lost my mum 23yrs ago. She was such a wonderful woman, we will always miss her.

I lost my dad 9 yrs ago, a strict disciplinarian and jolly fellow.

I lost two elder brothers, one in oct 2004 and another one last year dec.

The pain still feels like yesterday. I pray that God will continue to keep watch over the families they left behind and may their souls continue to rest in peace(amen).

lolaxavier: Just like yesterday. I lost Bayowa, my younger brother, our last born. He travelled home on a saturday to pick up his secondary school credential as part of what he is to tender at KPMG after passing their test and first interview. He complained of headache when he got home and my mum and dad took him to a hospital and he was attended to.
My parent came back from church on Sunday and he asked my mum for a cup of tea. He drank it and vomitted. My dad took him to the bathroom and from there, he slumped. Rushed to the hospital, there was no response from him. His heart kept beating but no tiny, single response from him. My elder brother, a doctor at UCH Ibadan, rushed down that same day to Ondo state and got an ambulance which was used to convey him to UCH. At 1:00 am in the morning of Sunday, they got to UCH and was immediately placed on life support machine in their Intensive care unit.
With my mum, dad and siblings all present, all making journey down to Ibadan from our various destinations, we kept hoping and praying. Well, believe me, the eyes that Bayowa closed from the bathroom was the last. He never opened those eyes. Bayowa passed away about 2.30am on the following Tuesday, barely 13 days after his birthday. He died right in my presence. This memory has stuck with everyone and truly, his demise has shattered a lot.
CT scan done before he died revealed that he has bled seriously into the ventricles in his brain and that all the time he was complaining of headache, he was already bleeding seriously in his brain. At the end he was diagnosed to have leukaemia (a form of cancer of the blood). No visible signs or symptoms.
This happened on May 2, 2012, barely three months after finishing NYSC. He studied Elect Elect from FUTA.
Bayowa, I miss you, we all miss you. The exit of a genius. He was 24 years old.
dat finally got me in the heart. Cant stop the tesrs. R I P young blood.

I Bequeath This Poem...

It has 2 Versions
From Elizabeth Frye..

Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die...................

2)
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

When we are on earth, they call us different names and even pet names.
As soon as we die, all those pet names vanish. They call us body; bring the body, lower the body, cover the body, embalm the body, etc.

We should know that these people died, and we are next.

Not all nairalanders that started this site are here with us, some have died. Let's pray that we die at the right and righteous time, no matter the age or place. The best time is the righteous time.

Lost a cousin on Jan. 4, 2004. Saw her the day before she died. Next day, she wanted to stifle a sneeze (keep it from sounding loud) and in the process, she burst a vein in her head (if U are used to doing this, pls learn from this). By noon, she died.

I always do that by blocking my nose! Never again!

every death is painful no matter what time, age, nature and event led to it.
haven said this, the most painful of all death to me is this,
my Cousin a 400level medical student at the university of Jos, he left benue on a thursday for school only to arrive jos and on the following day wanted to go and greet my uncle in town, but was apprehended by vagabons, holligans, terrorist, fanatics and hungry blood sucking islamist extremist, who slaugthered him and left a vacuum in his immediate family....
