Is this question for Muslims or Hausas because there are Christian Hausas and Christians Fulanis
Of course they do have native names

Hausa and Islam have become two indivisible elements such that these days, the two have been intertwined and it can be difficult telling what's of Hausa or Islamic origin. But yes, some Hausas have native names.

Yes...In Borno where there are kauri people and native hausa, you would see so many native names(traditional) buduwara for example is a native borno name, when you go to yobe dominated by kanuri too..you will see so many traditional native names like pyam still a name in Plateau state. Jigawa is also a place for traditional names not taking away Adamawa and Taraba..where you see Bawa,Tafawa Babangida, Babanawa among many Baba..the North West is a place where you see less of traditional names; states like Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina and Zamfara. Locating a traditional name there would be very difficult though that is the home of hausa where the names are supposed to be numerous..the hausa bakwai...i hope by this few points of mine you are convinced and not confused beyond normal peoples doubt that there are a lot of traditional names up dia...by the way, i have been to almost all northern states#justsaying sha..no vex abeg

Abeg help me ask him, the topic is entirely wrong, as Northern muslims are found in so many tribes, Nupe, huasa fulani, igala, ebira, tiv, idoma, karuni, idoma, yoruba of ilorin, the over 50 tribes of taraba, etc

Suddenly all these muslims from different tribe are simply Hausa, op please change the name of your thread is do hausa muslims have native names other than muslim names or whatever!

And yes Hausa muslims do have names other than muslims name Ciroma, dangote, magawata etc

it is quite rare for northern muslims to have native names.Best you get most times is the name of thier village added to their names e.g Muhammed Kwajaffa.......kwajaffa na village. But christians there still have their native names. DATS MY OBSERVATION!

Yes they do. Actually I think since many of them are Muslims, they prefer their Arabic/Islamic names so much so that even the Christians among them too bear Arabic names e.g "Yakubu" Gowon, Late Gov. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa etc. I know a couple of Southern Kaduna people that answer names like Zainab, Fatima etc too.
However, names like Bako, Maigida, Maikasuwa and all the Mai----- are hausa names. They also bear names of the towns like Kabiru "Sokoto", Atahiru "Jega", Shehu "Shagari" etc

Hausas have some tribal names aside islamic names. But some of the names are names of towns or villages. E.g Mohammed MAKARFI, Haruna DANJA, Dahiru BAUCHI. Other names are SAMBO, NAMADI, ALINKO, GARBA (which also mean Abubakar) SAWABA etc.
