True talk. Taking medicine under bad hygiene is dangerous. This is due to the fact the medications are chemicals and their function can be reversed as a result of actions from bad microbes in d system. Its rare though but possible.

Even if u hav sex for 24 hrs stretch..u'll still feel the cramps. The origin of the cramps isnt located in the vagina.

@dr. greatpeter. I had two kids now but I still have menstral pains. Is my problem too serious? And the pain is really terrible, like prettyH ibruprofen doesnt work. It comes with back and waist pain, slight fever and sometimes vomiting. My stomach runs and I sometimes lose my apetite. I have accepted it as one of those things and till the day I receive divine healing........

Best thing that worked for me was to start taking painkillers before the event so 2 days before I start taking Nurofen or extra strong paracetamol. Helps loads.

Yessssss.

I use to have terrible pain during my menses, I hated it.
Now my body has seemed to reach a certain level of balance.
The pain has a lot to do with the bodies temperament and our diets.
I don't have the full 7 days which I am grateful for. I'm not sure if I can handle it. I feel so bad or the women who go the full term sad.
May things be easier for them.

I have some things I will share. (Note) Everyone's bodies are different and these things I am sharing are from my personal experience. There may be some cultural practices you have in Nigeria that may work for you.

(- Prevention Suggestions

1) We should drink plenty of water before our menses start to support the flow of the blood.
2) We should eat less dairy product to prevent disregulation of the female body system (no ice cream)
3) We should drink warm liquids (room temperature water) to support the normal warm temperature of our bodies & it helps the blood flow evenly.
4) We should use Raspberry's in our daily diets. Raspberry's tone the Uterus and supports the female body system.
5) We should get enough Iron in our bodies to avoid feeling drained or tired. Take your daily vitamins.
6) Don't have sex, it only agitates the body and can be very harmful (disgusting in my oppinion)
7) Don't walk around bare foot, keep your foot covered with socks or slippers or shoes.
cool Don't wear tampons, this is very convenient but un-natural and it disrupts the blood flow, causing the blood to become clotted and in most cases causes cramps and yeast or bacteria infections. Maxi pads are better because they allow the blood to flow naturally. It doesn't feel the greatest to us but our bodies appreciate it allot more. wink
9) Caress your abdominal area and lower back before hand to help relax your muscles. Your partner can do this for you as well.  wink
There's more but this is all I can thin of off top of my head.

( Suggestions when in pain

1) Go to sleep if you are able, your body will feel so much better because it is not being strained.
2) Do not exercise!!!! this will disrupt the blood flow and cause pain. It can be done but it is not a wise thing to do, we want our blood to flow naturally and evenly.
3) Drink Raspberry or herbal tea. Keep the fluids warm please it will only help. Even orange juice has helped me at times.
4) Take a warm soothing bath then keep your body covered in warm clothing, feet too!!!
5) If the cramp is very hard what I do is go to the toilet and allow it to flow out as I relax my muscle's, it feels so much better smiley.
6) Gently rub your abdominal area and eventually place your hand over it to warm the spot and keep it there until you feel better.
7) I really try to stay away from modern medicine because it can be so harmful, if all fails I take Aleive, it works for me so well.
cool Again try to relax your abdominal and lower back muscle's by massaging them or having them massaged, usually part of the cramps come from tensed muscle's.
9) Lastly just RELAX and try to take your mind off of it . Remember this is a very emotional time for us, almost anything irritates us, people talking to us, people looking at us or anything. It's crazy and funny when you think about it. We probably exaggerate the pain due to the over whelming emotional side of it.  wink

Our bodies are so complexed but the cleansing process of having a menses is a sometimes painful but a very beautiful thing.

Re: Dysmenorrhea a.k.a Menstrual Pain or Cramps by Kenya(f): 10:30pm On Dec 03, 2005
Thanks everyone,

@ Scorpio

Yeah that chocolate and candy craving is a killer. It's so hard to get away from it.

The chocolate and sweet craving is due to a lack of Iron.
During the menses we loose lots of Blood which affects our iron level.
Chocolate has iron in it and many sweets as well, mainly chocolate though. So because we loose lot's of blood our bodies crave the sweets to compensate the Iron that it lost. That's why we feel tired and drained or just low on energy.
If we were to use vitamins that provided iron or even took iron pills and certainly eat foods with Iron within it then this will lessen and eventually take care of the sweet craving.  It's tough though, but it's certainly attainable.

Really I have read in this African Medicine books that it was not normal for women to have cramps, especially serious enough to bring you to your knees or a doctor.
Some of the preventive things I listed were things women were not doing that caused the pain.

@Layi
I don't see pleasure in the pain, in-fact you really don't even want to be near me when I'm in pain least I snap on you angry, unless your trying to help relax me.   wink

I just think the fact that our bodies are being cleansed and re newed is a beautiful thing,
Besides it gives us a break from our sex driven husbands or boyfriends who can't seem to get enough wink grin
