LEXYCOM: 50k is ok....but tell customers to come along with their clipper and chair... Are you Really Serious in advising him to Tell his Customers to come along with their Clipper and chair. That is no way to do a Barbing Salon Business. For me 50k can do that but that depends on the Location, Amount of Rent you Pay and How Much you charge per Hair Cut. E.g in Enugu or Awka, the Average Barber charges just 150 per Hair cut but in other places like Lagos, ABJ or PH, he would charge higher. |

50,000 Naira, spread across the following items Clipper = Chairs = Apron = Mirrors = Generator = 14 - 16 Thousand Naira Jerrycan = Electricals (Extensions, adaptors) = Furniture (Chairs for waiting customers, Workstation table, e.t.c) = Cosmetics (Hair creams, Hair Sprays, dyes, relaxers, conditioners, Alcohol, e.t.c) = Sterilizer kit = Tools (Screwdrivers, pliers, Combs, Brushes, e.t.c) = Miscellenous (Dustbin, brooms, mops, bin bags, pictures, wallclock, radios, T.V, e.t.c.. ) = Rent = Government Taxes/Levies/Permits = Employee salary/renumeration = I really doubt you can pull it off... O.P Here is a speedy breakdown of what I think is needed to kick-start a small Barbing Salon. Now you would notice that I didnt add Fridges, Cable TV, Airconditioning, dryers, washing bowls, e.t.c as I feel thats for people who are trying to make a statement with their shops. My suggestion is that you take this my list, expand it and tailor it to fit what you have in mind. Do a cost analysis on these items and then do a simulation based on that to see how long it would take to break even. Good Luck Mr. OP sir. |

fckyourman: First. Guy, I luv your analysis but you are missing some things. Please don't mislead this young enterpreneur. First, is that you cannot open a barber shop with 3k clippers. Those clippers when used for commercial purposes will wear out in no time. Please go for Original Wahl Clippers which sells for about 6k each. In everything, please do not forget to include the cost of renting a shop |

Try Mobile Barber... I pass my neighbour Generator and Clipper, Then barbing accessories. Wheel Barrow or Small hand pushed truck u'll use to carry your items around.. Go to peoples homes and give them a cut instead of them coming to a shop. That way you can save money for rent.. Maybe 50k may suffice. GoodLuck!! !!... 2 Likes |

MINIMAL LIST OF HAIR SALON EQUIPMENT YOU NEED(Please note: This list is minimal. You might need up to millions if you want to set-up an upscale salon) Professional hair Clipper Hair dressing chair Styling station Styling station mirror Hair scissors/Combs Head washing basin Salon sundries: Clips,Cutting cape(cover cloth),brush,Tinting brush Hair salon products: Hair cream, relaxer, shampoo etc Generator long waiting chair Sound system or TV Cooling system(Fan or A/C) Rent is not included because you are the only one who knows where you want to set-up your salon. Do your own research to know what the list will cost. Then let's start from there. But honestly, 50k won't make it. Keep calm and set-up your barbershop. Ciao! |
