A specialist healthcare service provider Located in Lagos Nigeria is recruiting for the position of a Social Worker to work within a team and fit into its expanding Counseling Unit. The Ideal candidate must have at least two years post qualification experience working in a hospital, Clinic or Specialist Health centre. The Ideal Candidate must also possess a B.sc in Social Works, Sociology, or Social Development Administration or B.sc in Psychology. JOB SPECIFICATION The Ideal candidate must have experience in a structured Counseling and Guidance Unit. 1 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES To deliver a service that is sensitive, and adaptable to the needs of the individual client. To maintain an accurate log of counseling referrals, and case statistics. To compile client records and maintain ongoing case-notes as necessary, ensuring their professional and appropriate storage. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment of and provision for the counseling needs of clients. To promote and maintain good working relationships with other professionals, groups and organizations in order to further clients support and counseling needs. 2 OTHER PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES To complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports on counseling service activities. To act as a source of further information for patients and staff. To promote, develop and support the use of counseling skills by other centre staff within their respective professional roles and relationships. 3 MANAGEMENT To plan, organise and manage all day-to-day aspects of the counseling service. To contribute to policy discussions and service planning. To work collaboratively with clients, to encourage their involvement in identifying needs and in planning and evaluating the counseling service. To develop and implement changes in working practice to improve the quality of service to client. 4 GENERAL DUTIES Maintain confidentiality, security and integrity of information relating to patient. To be familiar with relevant Health and Safety policy. To have a sufficient knowledge of risk management to enable identification of and appropriate response to risks encountered in the work place.
