I just read online that the import duties on cars would be increased to 70% from about 20%. Curiously, madam Okonjo says that car assembly plants would still be able to import fully assembled cars at 35%. If we are encouraging local assembly, why should the same local assembly plant import at 35% while i import at 70%? Can Nigerians handle this? Let us forget about academic economics.
