1. CATCHEMENT AREAS: A school's catchement areas are those areas(states) which are usually accorded preference in the school's admission process as a result of proximity factor..Before choosing an institution, you should try to check if your state is among the School's catchement areas which is usually stated in the brochure given to you at the point of purchase of your UTME form. E.g, if the catchement area of OAU is OSUN, ONDO and all, if am applying to OAU and am from ONDO state, i would definitely be admitted before my counterparts from Edo who had similar scores as mine.

The competition is therefore high and if you consider yourself as an average student who can't standout among many, then the sure bet is to choose a state university or less competitive federal universities..

Before you choose an institution in utme, make sure it's not under ASUU!! If it is and you still wanna go there, add 2 more years to the duration of your course.
