Hello Nairalanders, my name is Kehinde and i am from family A, i have this cousin (my mum's step sister) whose name is Wunmi. Herself and my mum hails from the same family and hence shares the same surname which I would call B.
Wunmi on the other hand now has another cousin ( the daughter of her mums younger brother) whose name is Dotun.

The thing is that I really like l this girl(Dotun) and I really want dating her, it's just this family or no family issue that has been giving me headache.

So that is why I need to know what you peeps have to say to this. Do you think that Kehinde can date dotun?

OP onces u can´t marry her, u can´t date her. As long as the blood relationship can be traced, sexual relationship is prohibited. Some people say no sexual relationship atleast to the fourth generation cos by then the blood connection is watered down. In this case this is ur second cousin, thats no go

Dotun is my not my cousin o. She is my aunt's cousin.

And to talk of the family, my own immediate family are in support of the whole thing.

WOW. The fact that am asking doesn't mean that am bad or something. It was someone that just popped the talk about Dotun being family and I would like to hear what you peep have to say to it.
To me she ain't family, I might eventually end up not going out with her, but i really do not see her as someone that I can't date.

As long as she isn't the mum of Dotun and every other person is okay with it, i don't see wats wrong since the relationship is a long one and not blood linked but marriage linked
