Each time I listen to a choir
singing in unison, I am always
deeply moved. It seems to me
to be one powerful voice
praising and glorifying God.
Then - on the chorus - the
sopranos, the altos, the tenors,
and the basses all sing their
different parts; and the
harmony is breath-taking. It
thrills my soul, and makes
their unison singing seem
colourless by comparison.

Every worshipper of God "sings"
a different part as together we
work for The LORD. We come
from various backgrounds; and
have different personalities,
abilities, nationalities, religions,
sexual orientations, and so on.
Even so, our labours together
for Him can result in a beautiful
harmony of service. Instead of
appreciating this blend,
however, some people demand
conformity to their own
methods and procedures. They
want everyone to sing THEIR
way.

Although this kind of unity
(singing their way) can produce
limited results, nothing is
quite as satisfying as seeing
different individuals - all with
their own styles, talents, and
identities - presenting in
harmony the same theme:
the love and salvation offered
by The LORD GOD Almighty.

In our service to God, let's not
worry if the people next to us
aren't singing our "note." As
long as they're in harmony
with God, we're in the same
choir. Remember, God calls
His children to unity - not
uniformity.

Help us, Lord, to pray together
although tribe and tongue may differ;
though sexual orientations
be, one to one, as peace to guns.
