About four months ago, the Russian foreign minister said on hard talk ( a BBC programme) that democracy is a form of government but not the best. Recently my friends and I were discussing what is the best solution to the Nigerian problem and someone said " we need a committed soldier to put Nigeria back on track." He said like the Buhari -Idiagbon regime.

Do you think democracy is a solution to the Nigerian problem? If NO what?

DEMOCRACY IS THE SOLUTION TO NIGERIA PROBLEM.

However, If you are familiar with the Bible, it said that if the foundation were to be faulty what would the rightheous do?

The faulty foundation is  CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION.

And Nigeria on top of that has not got a visionary leader that will set a bold vision and agenda. Now, such leader may have to be a military with dictatotarial power but have a clear and positive unambigous plans that all nigerians can see that it is non tribal or religion but address basic needs of Nigerians.

Unfortunately majority of Nigerians are swimming in corruption, so to correct it, you have to think out of the box.

I recommend a one off amnesty for everybody that declares their corruption especially in public and publicly interested organisations (like PLC's) and return their loot. failing that life imprisonment/death penalty.

Nigerians don't want to die, they will obliged once examples are made of some people.

Until you are able to address CORRUPTION comprehensively, it does not matter what type of system you operate, there is a little chance of it succeding.

A modifiable style democracy (but if one really examines democracy: such thing does not exist) and NOT THE WESTERNIZED ONE.

Nigeria cant do democracy, but we cld do Demonstration of Craziness.
A nation that has politicians that have a " do or die" attitude, they have to win or no one else will live.

But in reality, democracy doesn't exist anywhere.

@Poster, Democracy is the only solution to Nigeria’s problems. We are yet to have an actual democracy. We still have the same old system wrapped in a new name. But when the power shifts from government to the people, it is then we will see and know what the Nigerian people are really made of. In my opinion, regardless of what they request, I say “GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT”. That is the best sort of government there can ever be. No one likes being dictated to and no one likes having some other man make his own decisions for him. Democracy works, just that we have yet to taste it.

This is one of the thing that is wrong with Nigeria and Nigerians. Taking things out of context and not addressing issues comprehensively.

I have just try to talk about faulty foundation. If not in the bible, nor the koran, surely in everyday life. If you do not have proper foundation whatever you built on it will collapse.

For people who are familiar with buildings. You lay diffrent foundation when you are building in Lekki in Lagos Island as oppossed to Ikeja in Lagos Mainland.

If you can't understand that you simply cannot graps the concept of nation building.

The issue here is not the Bible or the Koran but something by way of analogy of building a solid foundation on appopriate ground.

The question posed is simple: Is Democracy the Solution to Nigerian (Nigeria's) Problem?

It is a Yes or No answer. There is nothing to argue. Not everything ought to become an argument.

There is no human being on this planet that does not know that Nigeria has a problem with corruption. So your response does not answer the question. 

In addition, its easy to point out everything wrong with Nigeria and Nigerians. Easy, and if you don't want people taking your words out of context, next time try to be as explicit as possible.

Aristocracy may be a good option.
