Well for those asking, the AMORC HQTRS is on T.Y Danjuma street, off Ligali Ayorinde, V.I ,Lagos. Its a few blocks from ARK towers- where Virgin Atlantic/Nigeria Office is. Am not an AMORC or whateva, I just know because its around where I stay!

The AMORC Headquarters is at Calabar, not Lagos, and a member is called a Rosicrucian, not an AMORC.

I'm just making a few corrections -- they do have Pronaoi and Lodges all over Nigeria.

The spiritually lost ones will always get irritated when they hear/read the word of God. Why tell someone to shut up when he/she wasn't referring to you? I understand grin THE TRUTH HIT YOU REAL HARD! Is it the guy's fault that you conscience pricks you? I guess you don't want to retrace your steps because of pride. I wish you good luck as you embark on your journey to destruction.

Cheers

Re: The Eckankar Cult In Nigeria (Africa) by Zahymaka(m): 2:30pm On Jul 05, 2006
Rottweiler, the thread is discussing ECK and similar bodies -- for someone to barge in, start condemning everyone on the thread and preaching is simply not courteous.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes unto the father but through him"
There are many ways that seems right unto a man, but at the en leads to destruction.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
The devil doesnt give any free gift.
If he gives you once, he takes from you twice.
Let's open our eyes wide and say NO to ekult of any kind.
I am strongly against cult.
For those who are already involved indirectly, i endeavour you to embrace God and invite the Lord Jesus into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour.
Jesu said: Behold I stand at the door and knock if any man hears my voice and open the door of his heart, i will come in and stay.

I don't see anything wrong with this but I know that LIGHT & darkness do not go together. grin

Eckankar teaches that there are different planes of existence,I won't argue because I have never experienced any of them.I stated earlier I was fascinated by the prospect of Soul/Astral Travel and it didn't work for me,Zahymaka is of the opinion that it didn't work because I had cruel intentions.

My question is this, for those who have successful done Soul travel

1.Where did you go to?
2.Are you in control of what you do or is a higher power in control?
3.If I decide to visit my friend living in another town and he happens to be shagging his wife, what happens would the visit be successful or would something stop me from seeing free porn.
4.Can I visit Bin Laden,Bush,Blair and our very own Baba Iyabo?

I have always being a curious person and I want to learn new things,so my questions are not meant to offend anyone.

Thanks

See me see wahala. So this babe is really serious about this thing. The thing about it is that there's no go-slows or traffic-jams in the 'travel'; no one will charge you for 'overload' or drunken/reckless driving - so breakneck speed is guaranteed! The only hitch to it all is that. . . em. .er, you CAN'T and SHOULD NOT take this piece as guaranteed advice!!

I'm not saying they do. We're discussing something else, not preaching. If he wanted to convert all ECKists, he should have opened a different thread.

I'm not of any opinion. I'm saying that's what you will be told if you say you wanted to do soul travel to have a look at exam papers.

Abeg, help me tell am. Although it's reputed to be safe, I have a feeling it's dangerous and you age faster. You're essentially separating the spirit from the body and entering the astral plane [the so-called plane of dreams]. There might be re-rentry problems.

Okay, "re-entry" - you mean the 'toll-gate'? That's certainly one of the comma's to the whole episode.

The first time i heard of eckankar was probably 1986. I read a poster on the wall that said 'eckankar, what is it?' I didn't try to find out.

However when I was in school I did read their boards. Few people did.
There was this funny episode where I scared the sh*t out of one guy standing behind me at an eckankar board. The piece was about something freaky about reincarnation, it wasn't kindergaten stuff.

I spied this guy in the reflection then signed to my friend and began saying "All eckists in unical must reunite!we must come back and draw more people to our fold", my friend nodded "If not more people will come back to this world as tables, palm oil, chairs, birds, and cassava, we must cast spells, "
The guy faded.

I know some Eckists, I don't know if they are brainwashed, but i do know that personally. these ones are morally good people, very beautiful girls too.

So far they have not tried to tell me I will go to hell unless i am part of their chosen 144,000 like Jehovah's witness.
neither have they pulled out a dagger at me for saying God does not answer the 40-day fasting & praying for cash-money (The Holy Book claims if you complete it to the letter God will rain the said cash on you, forget about the breast-loving part iif you die for the cause),. they have also not blind-sided me with the prosperity message, that we are all heir (apparent) of God and deserve the very best, (we deserve only what we work for and God knows this too)

15 years you say, that is a mighty long time, but we live in a democratic world which is why God did not slap Satan into a waiting Peugeot to be taken to an unknown destination for interrogation and subsequent dumping into the lake of fire.

Every religion is a CULT, why, because it is religion, I do not know if any of you feel me, but God is a Spirit oga and those who worship him must do so in the spirit, it has nothing to do with physical ceremonial gesticulations and various smoke-producing sticks and candles. it also has nothing to do with how you bow or how you stamp your feet and cry when you worship, it is simply a spiritual thing,

A Cult is a dangerous situation because you will inevitably be used and abused by the heads of the cult because (as usual) we are human and the high-sounding beliefs and tenets of the Cult cannot be achieved by humans (cept you are living in the spirit of God)

AMORC, Grail Message, Pastor Chris, Mountain of Fire, Celestial Church, Olumba Olumba, Sango worship Satanism, Catholicism, Islam, Christianity are all religious cults, unless you believe what they say, A Church is a state of mind, a private place where you sit down and talk to your personal God, it is not a building, if you see it as a building, they you are following a religion (which has all the rules to follow) or faith (which has no written rules but an unseen rule generator) or you are simply livin the way God says you should.

Anyway, thank God I am a rebellious fella. otherwise i would have fallen victim to the numerous cults we have in Nigeria.

Let me let you in on something, A CULT is simply negative because what they practise falls outside the socia-cultural guidelines of the society in which it operates, they day society expands her mind and starts accepting some far-less shocking beliefs of your so-called Cult, it would be fashionable to be an Eckist

@ zarah,
Your curiouslity will definitely leads you into problems.
Occult is never a place to be, forget what you may stand to enjoy temporily.
I am speaking from experience.
A man had a dog and wanted to know how many teeth his dog has.
He develop such thoughts for long time, until one day he had the opportunity to count the dog's teeth.
He put his hands into the dogs mouth and started feeling the teeth one after the other. On the other side the dog has also wanted knowing how many fingers the man has.
What a nice opportunity, the dog grab the fingers and started breaking them one after the other.
Zarah, this is for you. What an old man sees, a small boy even when he climb the trees will never see.

It good to know a lot of people have heard about eckankar.someone once said the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. I'm a member of Eckankar.i've been so for as long as i care 2 remember. Read all your postings, and ithink i can relate to the way u all talk about eckankar.it is really not easy to accept a new thing.many people didnt think the computer will work but, we are all where we are supposed to be so if you're a christian, muslim, jew, hindi or whatever,u will operate at your various level of consciousness. i don't see any reason for anyone to start attacking something or someone if that thing or person is not a threat to u. my advice to all is that u get your facts right before u critise. Is eckankar a cult? what do u define as a cult? Strange things a group does or what.Eck programs are shown on TV all are invited to our seminars so. if it this is your argument, have u heard of Opus Dei in the catholic church?i don't want to go into too much detail.[s]but if u want to know more, mail me. imomoh24@hotmail.com [/s]

Which is why it's good to read and ask questions. ECKists, Freemasons and Roscicrucians don't hide their beliefs -- unlike most 'cults' you'll come accross.

Education, definitely, is key here.

Have you watched the video strip offered in the link by the originator of this thread? What do you say to the serious allegations of plagiarism and the re-cast history of the founder of eckankar, and the several other stuff that we can't all just wish away?

Imomoh24,

Thanks for your offer of private lessons on Eckankar but the subject is in a public forum where people are trying to find out more about this intriguing subjects like different level of consciousness and most importantly Soul/Astral travel.
I hope you would kind enough to share with us all that you can about Eckankah,I believe most people on this forum are open minded enough to learn new things about the world around them.

@Lordimpaq & Rottweiller,

There is actually a forum where preachers and evangelist can meet up and spread the massage on nairaland, why don't you use it.On this section people are discussing different believes systems there is no need to start preaching Fire and Brimestone on those who don't share your views.
We live in a free world, where free speech is important but that does not mean you can shove your religion down somebody's throat. Its important you realise we are in the age of REASON

Cheers

Than k you mrmayor. I believe in understanding the other side's viewpoint before condemnation.

Some people have no idea what goes on in ECK and they outrightly condemn hem. Others have never seen any Rosicrucian and say, 'I hate AMORC.'

I'm not supporting any of these organizations, but I have been reading for years and I have had many of my questions answered, either from books or from members who are in a better position to tell me.

It is from these first-hand experiences that I form my views about the various organizations or schools of thought.

Re: The Eckankar Cult In Nigeria (Africa) by mrmayor(m): 11:02am On Jul 10, 2006
GUYS,I have done some reading to refresh my secondary school days encounter with Eckankar, this what I came up with.I'm sorry my post is rather long!

Founder: Unknown
Overview:
Eckankar is a religious and spiritual path, sometimes called the Religion of the Light and Sound of God. Its name can be translated " co-worker with God". Eckankar members are called ECKists or ECK chelas. ("Chelas" means "student"wink.

According to Eck teachings, they believe they have ancient roots. Unfortunately much knowledge was lost to history until Paul Twitchell (Paulji) "rediscovered it." He founded Eckankar in 1965. Eckankar followers believe that he studied under two Eck Masters: Sudar Singh in Paris and India, and a elderly monk Rebazar Tarzs in Tibet. They believe that he received the title of the 971st Eck Master from Tarzs in 1965, thus becoming the latest in a series of Masters which began before recorded history. Some of the past Masters are known historical figures; most have been solitary practitioners or have taught small groups. Paul Twitchell apparently gained additional knowledge from Kirpal Singh, an Eastern Guru, founder of the Ruhani Satsang movement.

After Paul Twitchell's death in 1971, Darwin Gross, the 972nd Eck Master became the Mahanta of Eckankar. (A Mahanta is the spiritual leader of Eckankar, a "living manifestation of God"wink. Subsequently, Sri Harold Klemp (1942-) became the 973rd Eck Master in 1981; he now heads the movement as its Mahanta.

Eckankar does not attempt to evangelize the world by aggressively converting individuals to their religion. They do not actively proselytize. However, they do advertise their presence and distribute literature to interested persons.

Members generally sing or chant a mantra for 20 to 30 minutes each day. HU (pronounced "hue"wink is a common mantra; it is an ancient name for God, and is considered a love song to God.

Various spiritual exercises are promoted by the organization: chanting, contemplation, meditation, singing, trance work and visualization techniques are used to achieve soul travel. Travel during dreams is an area of growing importance in the movement. Dreams are regarded as an important teaching tool; a "look into the heavenly worlds". Members are urged to keep a dream journal to facilitate study.

Worship Services consist of a readings, singing "HU", silent contemplation and an open discussion. It "may also include music, group singing and talks".

Initiations mark an individual's spiritual progress within Eckankar. At the Second Initiation, one makes a personal commitment. At the fifth initiation, one becomes a Mahdis (High Initiate) and a member of the ECK clergy.

Members who have reached the Second Initiation are urged to conduct a partial or full fast each Friday.

Eckankar considers abortion, divorce, sexual orientation, and a decision to terminate life to be personal matters. They discourage the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. Many followers are active in a community service.

Cult Beliefs:

They believe that Sugmad is a sacred name of God; God is perceived as neither male nor female.

They believe an ECK Current connects every person with the Heart of Sugmad. It flows from the Creator to the lower levels of existence and then returns to God. It is often called the holy spirit. ECK manifests itself in two forms:

an "Inner Sound", the "Voice of god calling us home". The Sound may be present as a sound of nature or as music.

an "Inner Light which is a beacon to light our way". During spiritual exercises, the light sometimes materializes as "brightness or colors on your inner visual screen".

Eckankar believes in the duality of the soul and body. The soul is the inner, most sacred part of an individual. It is eternal, without beginning or end. It lives only in the present. One's soul can exist and travel separately from the body and even from the mind.

A person is capable of exploring other planes of existence, through Soul Travel. Unlike "Astral Projection" which is taught by other spiritual traditions, Soul Travel is not limited to the Astral Plane; it allows you to go further and explore any of the god worlds.

Eckankar has a concept of Karma which is somewhat similar to that found in Hinduism. Through attachment to the five passions (anger, greed, lust, undue attachment to the physical world and vanity) one's bad karma accumulates. This requires a person to be reincarnated at death, in order have an opportunity to work off the debt of karma in their next life. The goal of Eckists is to pay off all of this accumulated debt and achieve Self-Realization in their present life. Once this state is reached, at death one need not return and spend another lifetime on earth. One is freed from the endless cycles of reincarnation.

Eckankar is regarded by its followers as the best (but not the only) path to God-realization. Christianity is recognized as an alternate path that can aid a follower to achieve a degree of enlightenment. Christians, and others, may join Eckankar without renouncing their existing religion.

Gee, It was very interesting reading all these discussions about Eckankar.
I'll like to suggest that u visit the official Eckankar website www.eckankar.org  and u can go on from there.
I'll also like to point out that there's no need to be scared of another religion or the followers if u have a 100% faith in yours. And besides that, I think all religions preach "Don't judge others, or u shall be judged". So you should all think about that too.

Look i'm a crossbearer,an adherent of the grail message.Grail message is a book tittled ''IN THE LIGHT OF TRUTH'' and the movement itself is called the grail movement. In the grail message vol 3,lecture 35 ''POSSESED',ABD-RU-SHIN told us to be careful in the consevation of things that we do not understand fo we burden ourselves with great guilt in doning so.I want to say that the grail movement is not a cult or anything sort of and had never associated with such, so do not be misinformed.Ecaknkar as far as i know is not and cannot also be a cult even the so called Amorc. All these depends on the conciousnesses of individuals.Afterall Christ said in the bible that he is the way,the truth and the life and no one cometh unto the father but by him. What this implies is his words which are eternal truth andare found everywhere else all leading to the Almighty creato the infinite one.It doesn't matter what religion u belong to but ur inner conviction is important and only that will lead u to the joyful feet of the creator, to the high realms of pure joy.
May the Blessings be.
