The Super Eagles cancelled a schedule training session on Thursday after a meeting where the players demanded the immediate payment of their appearance fee.

The Super Eagles may be heading the way of the Black Stars of Ghana if nothing is promptly done to settle the bad blood already brewing in camp over unpaid allowances.

Football news website, Kickoff.com is reporting that the Super Eagles cancelled a schedule training session on Thursday after a meeting where the players demanded the immediate payment of their appearance fee.

The Black Stars, who were embroiled in a similar disagreement with their country’s officials, were eliminated from the completion after an uninspiring performance against the Portuguese national team in their last group match. The Ghanaians lost the match by two goals to one.

The Black Stars players had threatened to boycott the match with Portugal if their appearance fees were not paid. It took the intervention of the Ghanaian President, John Mahama and the $3 million cash that was flown to the team in Brazil before they withdrew their threat.

The Super Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya, told Kickoff.com that the team was in a meeting and would come out for training afterwards. But an hour later, a bus, which was ready to take the team to training, re-parked, with officials saying the training had been cancelled.

Kickoff.com says during the meeting, the players asked to be paid the appearance fee agreed with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for making it past the group stage of the competition.

Kickoff.com says the Secretary- General of the football federation, Musa Adamu, left Brazil for Nigeria for more cash prior to the meeting. An official of the Federation, who was not named, told kickoff.com that Mr. Musa left to get money to prosecute the other rounds of the competition.

It is hard to imagine that the team is having problem with finances after, President Goodluck Jonathan approved the NFF’s budget of N2 billion, one of the biggest budget by teams in the competition, to execute the World Cup.

Mr. Amadu is expected to return to Brazil before the team’s round of 16 match with former world champion, France in Brasilia

what is wrong with all this africa's reprecentatives, all they care about is money, they don't know that it's privilege to play in world cup. I bet some players are ready to trade money to be in that competition and in this round. May be they should ask ibrahimovic, spain, England and italy national team.

I beg to disagree. The Football Federations had an agreement with the players, hence they should be help responsible if they don't stand by their words/agreement.

Let place culpability where culpability lies....The Football authority in Africa must be prompt to their responsibilities and fulfilling their promises...
A Worker or player is worthy of his wages
PS:
Once bitten forever shy....ask past Eagles players who took d FA for their promises without strife how it ended...

World Cup 2014: Nigeria boycott training in money row
By Ian Hughes BBC Sport

The Nigeria squad at the World Cup have missed a scheduled training session in a row over money.

BBC Sport understands the players believe they are each $15,000 short of the bonus they were expecting for reaching the last 16 in Brazil.

They refused to train in Campinas on Thursday and officials later confirmed the session had been cancelled.

Nigeria are scheduled to play France in the knockout stages on Monday having finished as runners-up in Group F.

BBC Sport has learned the problem lies in the interpretation of the bonus structure, with the players believing they will only receive $10,000 for their win 1-0 over Bosnia-Hercegovina and $5,000 for the 0-0 draw with Iran.

The players' understanding was they would receive a $30,000 payment for qualifying from the group.

However, it is believed the Nigerian Football Federation's offer to the players also includes the agreed win and draw bonuses plus 30% of the prize money due from Fifa for reaching the knockout stage.

This is understood to rise to 40% of the prize money from Fifa if Nigeria were to win their round of 16 match, 50% for a quarter-final victory, 60% for a win in the semi-final stage and 70% for lifting the trophy.

While all parties work to find a resolution to the misunderstanding, coach Stephen Keshi has insisted it will not affect the team's performance.

It has been confirmed to the BBC that the players will travel to Brasilia on Friday as scheduled and will train in the evening and over the weekend.

It is not the first time the Super Eagles have made a stance over money - last year they arrived late for the Confederations Cup in Brazil.

So after wetin do Ghana, sense no wan enter these boys dem head? Abi dem think say France na Argentina? E go soon do dem voom n'anya. Shey na their career dey at stake.

NFF should sha do the needful and stop delaying the players' money, FG gave them some serious cash for those boys, dem suppose credit their account immediately after the game through e-banking or something. There shouldn't be need for any of this if those glass house men did the right thing at the right time

Speaking of which, abeg I can't find any Ghana thread, wetin do bin gbagbo and Jiggaman? What about that 'Ghana is The Only Hope Of Africa' thread? I want to go and congratulate them grin cheesy wink
