Dear AbujaNIV, LagosNIV,

Great to have you here. I am a current Graduate Student in the US, and with two classes left, I will be graduating by December, 2018. I came back to Nigeria for a funeral and some business, and thought it wise to renew my visa even though it was still valid, but had a few days left. Since, I have used the dropbox service with my previous visa, I thought it wise to do a dropbox with the F1 too, especially with about 22 days still left on the visa. However, my passport is yet to be delivered, and as at last check, the current status displaying "administrative processing". Here are my timelines-

Passport dropped at DHL Abuja: June 1st

Passport update/received: June 6th

Mail sent request: June 20th

Passport changed to administrative processing: June 20th

Date of previous F1 expiration: June 23rd

I had wanted to take a class in Summer II, but now I have to push it to the fall. In all I have two classes to take to before graduating in December, 2018.

I have changed my return flight to the states twice, waiting on my passport. Any update on my F1 renewal will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your update.

Hello LagosNIV,

I made a mistake imputing my mums passport number on my profile while scheduling my interview. This is because our passport numbers are almost alike but with a slight difference with only a digit. Scheduling my Mum for an interview seems futile as well. Anyone who has experienced this should kindly assist in rectifying it. It’s certain i’ll be paying another MRV fee but i’m still worried about my mums passport number which is already assigned to my profile. I also need to know if i’ll be paying the MRV for both of us since my mums original MRV receipt has not been used. Thank you as I await your responses.

We humbly request for expedited visa appointments for 5 members of the Nigeria Team competing in the 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for students to be held July 27 - August 1 2018 in Orlando, Florida, USA. The scheduled date of appointments is in October which would make it impossible for Nigeria to be effectively represented at the World championship.

Our yearly challenge is that we cannot apply for the US Visa early each year because we do not know which student will qualify for the final leg in the US till the national competition is held in June. As is the case almost every year, the earliest visa appointment date we have is after the end of the world championship.

Our students have excelled in earlier editions of the championship and the team has always returned to Nigeria. Please see below Nigeria's track record at previous championships

Los Angeles 2014 - 2nd in Word 2007
Dallas 2015 - 10th in Excel 2010
Orlando 2016 - 10th in PowerPoint 2016
Los Angeles 2017 - 3rd in Word 2016

The objective of this national competition is to encourage our schools to include the acquisition of basic computer skills required by businesses in their curriculum. This would improve the quality of our graduates and improve their chances of getting employed after school. The 2018 Microsoft Competition was keenly contested by about 3,000 students from 25 secondary schools in Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Kwara, Oyo, Ondo States and the FCT.

This year, 6 national winners in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, 1 national winner in Adobe and 2 teachers are representing Nigeria in the World Championship. It would be so disappointing for these children if after working hard for 7 months to emerge national winners, they cannot get visas to participate in the world championship. This would deal a mighty blow to the growth of the competition in Nigeria. Zenith Bank PLC, the sponsor of this national competition has already provided economy return tickets to the team.

We applied for emergency appointment but received an email stating our request has been denied. We have submitted a letter of request to the consular section and received an email acknowledging receipt of our letter. They asked us to request an emergency appointment which we already did and were denied.

We would really appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Yesterday in Abuja, my brother had his F1 student visa interviewed, he was denied but not given any letter to explain why he was denied. When he requested, he was just asked to go, that he was denied.

Please can anyone tell me what is going on?

Dear AbujaNIV, LagosNIV,

I have a very long standing issue with my application. I applied for a US visa(filled the DS160) for myself and my Son in March after we were denied in November last year.
When i tried to schedule an appointment, i couldn't as my profile was showing "Schedule follow-up appointment".I already attended the interview for which this "follow-up appointment" in November. Please note that for the follow-up appointment we used my wife's profile to schedule this appointment.

My application has been stuck since then as i can't move forward.I have sent several mails to "ustraveldocs" to no avail. They keep requesting for my 221g letter. I have sent the last 221g as was requested and my passport data page on all occasions.
I tried to create a new profile to ee if i can schedule an appointment, but since my profile details matched the already existing profile,i could not progress.

Kindly assist me.

P.S This is my wife's profile

I need help with my visa application, please AbujaNiv/LagosNiv
I have an intention of studying in the United States, my interest is in the health/medical field, but I graduated from microbiology and then I applied to get an associate degree in nursing at a community collage but was denied a visa, now I refined my career path to build in my educational background by going for a masters degree in the field of biomedical sciences concentrating on biotechnology, as this is also inline with my career interest instead of starting nursing all over, but I was also denied a visa two days ago, my interviewing officer wasn't sure of the specific reason I gave for my change because he kept asking me for a reason for changing from an associate degree to a masters degree.
Please I need help with this issue because I really don't knw what else to do, I plan to reapply ASAP because my programme is starting next month.
Waiting to hear from you
Kind regard.

Dear LagosNIV,
If I updated a new Ds160 form to my profile in less than 24 business hours to my visa appointment will I be able to still do the interview as scheduled? Thank you.

Hi AbujaNIV,

I was denied the US Visa last week and I'm trying to re-schedule an appointment but it says that there are currently no appointments available. Could this be because I was just denied? What do you think I can do cos I need to go for a very important conference?
