OAM4J: Another corruption case swept under the carpet on the alter Jonathan's reelection.
Jesus wept!

Bros try and read to comprehension level before airing your views. You're a mod and more is expected of you.
This is the first sentence in the article:
Lagos – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday closed its case in the trial of Femi Fani-Kayode, charged with money laundering, while serving as Minister of Aviation .
Prosecution closing its case is different from abandoning a case.

Do you know the reason why they closed their case? It's because they couldn't or refused to produce their main witness against FFK hence the case not going anywhere. They basically threw in the towel. Case closed, case abandoned..

Besides, no fund was missing during the tenure of Femi Fani-Kayode as Aviation Minister accoring the the same EFCC investigation led by Bashir Abdullahi, who was the Investigating Police Officer (IPO).

Abeg quit the semantics, it's all charade and another EFCC case buried under the rug.

The article says that the prosecution closed its case. How does that translate to abandonment Since the defence has indicated its desire to file a no case submission, the court will hear the no-case submission and if upheld, he will be discharged but if overuled, the defence will either appeal the ruling or open its own case.

Anyways, I dont expect this case to lead anywhere. Anybody who has read the supreme court judgment in GEORGE v FRN and also particularly the sister cases of ABIDOYE v FRN and ALIYU V FRN will know how the supreme court lambasted Festus Keyamo. The supreme court held in aliyu that the prosecution in bode George's case was nothing but a sheer waste of tax payers money and was more of an attempt to play to the gallery and be seen prosecuting corrupt offenders.

I thought keyamo would have learnt his lesson but sadly it seems not. I expect the no case submission to be upheld. The koko is sha that the case has NOT been abandoned.

FFK,the prodigal son has repented of all his sins and plead GEJ for forgiveness,Sule Lamido's children case has been forgotten,SLS pleaded for entrance to his palace, now Murtala Nyako is the next opposition that will repent and plead for mercy. GEJ....there is a god!

finally fresh air for fani-kayode. GEJ has failed in the anti corruption campaign and as a result no foreign government or institution is taking Nigeria serious. I hope a second term bid is worth all these damage cos if the contrary is the case history will not be kind to him. God bless Nigeria

Nigeria youth I swear are just too gullible. Before jumping the gun let's wait for the out come of the case. And mind you the fact that the prosecution closed its case does not mean that the entire case as been abandoned.Secondly Dont pre empt the court.Wait let's see what happens. Its normal for smart criminal defence lawyer to enter a no case submission or a no case to answer and were this does not work they open their case.So Dont conclude.

You are sounding like an intellectual, but I bet you the case would just disappear bc FFK is now loyal to GEJ,the judiciary nowadays is like tissue in the hands of politicians.

You were endorsing all his articles and calling the EFCC case a witch hunt by the President against a critic of his, the President brought him to his side, he kept to his own side of the bargain and got a pardon for his efforts, why are you guys complaining now?

@OP,i dont really know what u set out to achieve with this trash you posted. If u dnt know anything about court proceedings,do well to ask a lawyer or google'em before rushing down here to tarnish people's images for no just cause. To close a case means that u have called all ur witnesses and presented ur case in d best way u can,and for d defence to be called upon to open its defence(case)...it doesnt mean abandonment. And in a criminal case, after d prosecution closes its case,d defence usually make a No Case submission which must be determined b4 anyother thing else;it simply means dat d prosecution has not made out any case upon which d defendant ought to be called upon to answer...well u will not understand'em cuz its legal terms. If d case has been abandoned as u wrongly claimed, then it wont be adjourned like u reported;it would simply be struck out or dismissed depending on d stage. An advice for you; marry a lawyer, its legal...and stop displaying ur ignorance on d net!

What do you suggest they do if after so many years of charade and deception, the same prosecution and EFFC admitted that no funds was missing during FFK's tenure at the aviation ministry and their so called imaginary main witness and the only critical component regarding their case against FFK remains lost and invisible and has been for almost a decade? Continue the case or toss in the towel. They tossed in the towel with zero dent or case against FFK.

Closing their case after admitting that no money was missing and their main witness is no where to be found remains their only option. Abandon or close their case against FFK either way you look at it makes no difference, they are done and FFK is practically off the hook, they just have to formalize it in a few months via the next court proceedings...

But, of course, this is way way too much for shallow thinking agbalumo brain like you type to figure out...

@ Op, one could pardon your ignorance of court room proceedings and language, but your choice of the word 'abandon' while in the same report you posted, it was said the matter was adjourned in other to hear the accused's no case submission/application leaves me with no other option but to knock some common senses into your head for misleading and thereby causing disaffection in the minds of plenty Nairalanders and the genearal public at large.
