Interesting Fact About Cars: The number one in Expensive Armoured Vehicles List goes to the Mercedes S600 Pullman State Limousine. This car looks huge, but little do people know this is an armour plated vehicle. Many celebrities and politicians have used this car. The list ranges from Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis Presley to Fidel Castro and Idi Amin who have used the Pullman as their choice of transport. The car is built to withstand bullets and explosives and doubles up as a bunker! It’s available at a price of USD 1.4 million.

Do you know, that... The world's first long distance drive was done by Carl Benz's wife, Bertha Benz who drove one of their Benz Patent-Motorwagens from Mannheim in southern Germany to Pforzheim on 12th August, 1888. She completed the trip in two days, covering 106 kilometers each way. The Benz Patent-Motorwagen was the first car in the world, and was driven by an internal combustion engine.

Do you know, that... The most expensive car ever sold at a public auction was a 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R Formula 1 race car, which went for a staggering $30 million at Bonhams in July 2013. The record was previously held by a 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa Prototype, sold in California at an auction for $16.4 million.

Do you know, that... Ferruccio Lamborghini was born under the astrological sign Taurus, the symbol of the bull. Thus, Lamborghini decided to use the bull for the logo of his new car company. Most Lamborghini car models are named after fighting bulls. For example, the Miura was named after a breed of Spanish fighting bulls, and the Diablo was named after a famous 19th century bull. The McLaren F1 Gearbox Prototype Used A Chevy V8 McLaren needed an engine to test the gearbox for the F1. The motor needed to have enough torque to replicate what they expected from their eventual production unit, so they picked a good ol' Chevy 454 big block. Hell yeah!

Interesting fact: Road car tyres can last 60 000 to 100 000 km. On the other hand, racing tyres are designed to last only 90 to 120 km. F1 car engines complete their life in about two hours of racing. Just compare this with normal engines which go on serving us faithfully for decent 20 years. 1 Like
