Hygenic? who cares?

As soon as I spot anything "bubbling" around his nostrils, I vacuum it up like "dyson". Hot or cold, watery, soft or hard.
My boy is used to it. As soon as he sees me lean forward with pursed lips he knows it aint "kissy kissy" time.

He immediately closes his eyes, clenches his fists and instinctively opens his mouth. I don't stop till he starts gasping for breath.
It typically happens when I bathe him in the morning or evening, so straight down the plughole - but I'll "act on sight".

I once did it during his weekly swimming lesson. Come see whooping and cheering (if de bogey enter water, these oyinbos go abandon class 0!). My man is used to it now, oft times he'll just tug my shirt and say "daddy suck nose" grin!

Salt content varies, but can be a great health indicator.

While mummy is looking for "wipe", daddy is doing like "Action Jackson"

Awesome for bonding.

Dat's d power of a mother's love. Can do anything for her baby, besides the baby's nose is 2 tender 2 clean with handkerchief. Although a mucus extractor can be used, but when u r a mother u bypass some many protocols sometimes. So many 'gross things' 2 do which makes motherhood so fulfilling and interesting.

Desperate situations requires desperate measures. What about the first aid treatment that involves mouthing a patient?
Lol,I remember one if my convulsive classmate whose father had to uses his old fingers to support her teeth from closing. You might not know the measure you can take to keep your child from suffering.

It may not be hygienic but I did that to all my children.

I cannot stand my little one gasping for breath as a result of unpleasant nasal congestion
with a build-up of mucus by catarrh smiley.

My mum encouraged me to do that since she did same to me embarassed

Use a suction. Affordable, cheap, less stressful for baby and care giver. Last a long time too.

As for being hygienic, I don't even wanna think about it. No be me go put my mouth for that nose tongue

As a mother of a toddler , you must be prepared every time. Where ever you go, their kits go with you. They need that their bag to survive. Everything should be in there. Food, clothes , spoon, ( medication ), gbogbotigbo.

Now when they are of age to flush their own nose themselves, then they do it. Mothers love is doing the best you could for them. In this case, the best for me is to use the right instrument for them. My mouth no be suction.

I humble myself where my families well-being is concerned 0. And it works for the "team" thingy; wifey does not do dirty or heavy lifting. And yes, at first I was subject to local/bushy-bushy type remarks.

Although funnily enough, she too jumped on this bandwagon small-small. Not willing to cede her position as primary carer - by me doing something for him that she doesn't - she followed suit. But it's a half-hearted almost noiseless effort. And she's always quick to call me or say to him "let daddy suck your nose" if I'm around grin!

I do it for my kids. I ll still do it till they turn big enoff to do it demsefs. My wife isn't always comfortable doing it but I undastan. She tries a bit Wen am not around and spit and spit and spit almost all-day! Sometimes it really makes her uncomfortable so she keeps a menthol cylinder(inhaler) in her room cupboard and in her car pigeonhole, just incase she MUST do d sucking! She doesn't outrightly support d action and says it pressurizes d infant's cerebral cortex... Lol My mom did it for us. I must do same for my kids. I also closely perceive their breath when they are sleeping; to be sure itz fresh and smooth. With dat I know when they are slightly sick or abt to be sick or have not taken enoff water etc
