How we see things tells a lot about our orientation towards life and this is also the same for the books that one reads. Exceptional novels are well structured, entertaining, informative, and produce more positive comment, reviews with good sales. He ‘no good make person’ use him energy, time, brain cells take write something and after everything ‘na only him go dey read’ him work. So as such I don compile list of 10 Novels from ‘we naija here wey ‘I think every upcoming author or author wannabe must try read.

1. Arrow of God by Chinua Achebe- Arrow of God (1964) by Chinua Achebe na both political and cultural novel, ‘wey show the’ effect of the different oyinbo ways and values brought by the British colonizers and Christian missionaries on the igbo community in the early twentieth century.

2. The Famished Road by Ben Okri - ‘Na book wey’ describe and ‘show say’ link dey between human and spirit worlds. It entails the characters of Azaro (abiku child) and his parents struggles, difficulties and hardship to keep him alive, and the writer use this take show the physical and spiritual war ‘wey dey happen for’ man to ‘stiil dey exist’. This novel, a winner of the 1991 Booker Prize is a classic of magical realism with a unique African twist.

3. The Interpreters by Wole Soyinka- The Interpreters as the name sound ‘na book wey you get to read’ with open head , mind and eyes because say ‘he no get’ main plot ‘as it be say’, it contain, and ‘come join ‘with no clear separation ,different stories of the lives of four university graduates(Bandele, Egbo, Biodun Sagoe, Kola, Sekoni ) ‘wey just come’ from abroad , the challenges , hardship ‘wey dem face’ in trying to survive the confusion, corruption, and insensitivity of we Nigeria.

4. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives by Lola Shoneyin- This book ‘na book wey talk’ about the trouble, insubordination, rivalry and uncertainty of events ‘wey dey happen’ for polygamous homes .It shows how women whether graduate, semi- graduate, or ‘dose with no school’ fit dey affected or limited by men.

5. Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor- This book uses fiction and magic to discuss on the people labeled outcast. It describes the problems and challenges ‘wey them dey face’ from a woman’s point of view through the character onyesonwu ,how it affects them, and how ‘they fit fight to overcome am’. Onyesunwo ‘na girl wey suffer’ segregation because of her color difference and circumstance of her birth, but even with everything she still use the power ‘wey she get’ fight the people ‘wey trouble her’ family and community.

6. Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie- This is a story about the lives of three different individuals Ugwu; young boy from the village, Olana; rich man’s daughter from the city, Richard; A Londoner that is in love with olana’s sister, and ‘how them survive’ the Biafra war together. Even though ‘say they no’ come from the same family, class, race or get the same idea ‘they still manage suffer’ through the war together. and this ‘na because’ of the love ‘wey them get’ towards each other. This book promotes and shows that there is unity in diversity.

7. Unbridled by jude dibia- This book contains a compelling and illustrational story, told by Erika King, a woman who has been abused by different men; first by her father, then her first crush and lastly her husband. And she ‘don loose’ her dignity and self esteem due to these circumstances. The story also show ‘how she take’ decide to forget her past, overcome her fears and move forward in her life

8. Sozaboy by Ken Saro wiwa- It tells the hustle and struggles of a youth ‘wey dey’ chase his future of getting good job and marrying the woman ‘way him like’ which he meet for brothel, ‘how he take enter’ survive the confusion and horror of the army, and come back home to be called a spirit because ‘them belief say he die for’ the war. The writer uses a mixture of Nigerian pidgin English, broken English and idiomatic English.

9. Yellow-Yellow by Kaine Agary- This novel explains the effects of all the oil exploration and exploitation ‘wey these’ oil companies they cause for coastal communities in Niger-Delta. Some of them according to the writer include; the Born troway, African profits, Father-unknown and Ashawo pickin. She portrays how poor or corrupt leadership ‘for we naija’ and under regulation of the activities of these oil companies ‘don produce these’ victims of circumstance and also generate or increase the level of criminal tendencies ‘for the’ Niger-Delta area.

10. Nine Lives by El Nukoya- This book talks on the influence of peer pressure, youthful extravaganza, circumstances of life, and ‘how dem take help’ in moulding or shapening one into who we be. It show ‘how person fit’ overcome all the poverty, disappointment, and hopelessness ‘wey people dey face’ through the main character Olupitan Ogunrimu.
