Three House of Representatives members from Borno State yesterday dumped their All Progressives Congress (APC) platform for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmakers are Rep Isa Lawan of Kukawa/Mobbar/Abadam/Guzam federal constituency, Rep Peter Biye Gumtha of Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok constituency as well as Rep Abdurrahman Abba Terab, who is representing Bama/Ngala/Kalabalge federal constituency of Borno state.

Their defections came barely two days after the announcement by the former Borno state governor, Ali Modu Sherif to PDP, who until his defection was one of the founding fathers of the APC.

All the three Borno members cited the liquidation of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to form the mega APC as their reasons, saying its registration certificate was withdrawn by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The lawmakers, in a letter read by the speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said their defections was in sync with constitutional provisions, since their initial platform no longer exists.

As Tambuwal read each of the member’s letter at plenary, PDP lawmakers shouted “PDP, power” in a jubilation of their extended majority number over the opposition APC.
