Now the blame is gradually being channeled to the Chinese. They haven't spent tens of years on the continent they are already being blamed for bad practice of maltreating workers. I think the Brits didn't do as much in the past long years they spent in the country as we have seen from the Chinese within a very short time. Africans are just full of excuses for their incompetence. Soon Chinese will live you to your miserable lazy bottoms in your poor development. Bunch of unruly people who wouldn't want to follow rules and regulations.

Get organized and live a civilized live. I don't think Chinese would maltreat Nigerians if they follow the rule. Lawless bunch of cockroaches(in Libyan Qaddafi's voice)

This happen in all chinese firms talk of CCECC,huawei,C contruction company and others. The issue is caused by Nigerians in dat company. Those at the admin level. They care more abt their own financial gains to d detriment of the out-sourcing staffs. They dont protect nigerians atall. Rathercdey worship chineese man like God. Another factor is the ministry of iterior. They conive wit d chineese. Too much bribe.

All the BRIC countries (Brazil,Russia, India and China) have no respect for human rights.

Hate Americans all you like but you can't be treated with disrespect in American or an European company.

They are very courteous regardless of our weak labour laws.

I will always be with USA and Europe.

In the end if we can't run a juice factory,or a plastic company or even a biscuit factory but wait on technicians not even educated indians and Chinese to run these simple organisations for us. Then we deserve what we get.

Maximum respect to all manufacturers that don't employ indians and Chinese eg Beloxxi food industries

xp17: its the culture of Nigerians to pass blames to the next person for their misfortune. if really you train yourself enough to standout, no one ll treat you like a poo.
the simple truth here is , they treat you the way you present yourself and the stereotyping of anyone on light skin as sir or ma'am.

sometime ago, I was at MMA, flying to Frankfurt (germany). I was kinda talking some pictures when one immigration guy walked up to me in an attempt to seize my phone .right there , I reminded him on how they lick other white men a'sses , like "would you seize aa white man's phone if he does likewise" ? immediately, the guy shamefully left.

I was so pissed off and shouted at those officers who usually ask for money at the departure. they be like "you get problem with person before" . even the guy that stamped the passport, I directly told him how fuvcked up It's to be a Nigerian force.

not until you guys change you ideologies of "a white God" you ll continue to receive mal-treatment from them.
why not go to your office in the morninng and start doing your job, instead of looking for who to praise ?
I no they even send most Nigerians errants that are out of their Job specifications.

democracy in book, but not applicable in real life.

emilo26:

This is the kind of mentality i don't like about nigerians. When few individuals train themselves and standout will it solve the problem? We are looking for a way of solving collecting problem and not individualist way of solving such problem. The root has been corrupt so how do we correct the root and re plant the tree to bear a fresh fruit that's the essence of these thread.
before you transform the world, you need to start up by changing yourself. Nigerians are only good for correcting others and never accept their own deficits.

team work is good, but if one person breaks the chain, everything would colapse. just like a soccer game, you have to pick from the best "individuals" to make a strong team.

hope I make sense to you?

I shall carefully pin points some of their misdeeds maybe the appropriates bodies could read and come to the aids of nigerians.
SALARY SCALES... I want to use China civil engineering construction cooperation (Ccecc ) as an example.
Labours- between.#15000 and #21000
workmen_ between #27000 and #31000
STAFF- between #45000 and #50000

WORKING PERIODS- 7.30am-6.00PM @30 days that means no rest days.
PENALTIES... penalties for offense committed could range between #5000-#20000 and could be deducted once from your salary.
JOB SECURITY- insecured.
Apart from salaries paid, no extensive employee packages. No health insurance, no paid time off from work, no retirement plans for workers, workers are fired at will, what pains me most is a Chinese man beating up a Nigerian because of a slight offense. Sometimes a whole salary could be seized just because of an offense. Why, why, why, these Chinese men are highly respected in Nigeria yet nigerians are enslaved home and abroad. The labour unions will come and do investigations but nothing happens thereafter. LAMATA pretends as if they hear or know nothing hmmmm. Can nigerians go to other countries and allowed to act this way?

our leaders are spoiler, they've ruined this country, you see a bloody Chinese and a bastard India from a rotten village giving orders as if they are in their country! nothing is working in this country nothing, our leaders have sold us to them.
You've only beaten one half of the drum, blaming our leaders for all our woes. The other half of the drum you consciously or unconsciously skipped was that we accord anybody with white/red skin excessive respect. Yes, black seem to feel inferior before any white/red and that is why some of these evils are not reported and no reactions from victims. Remember the history of American war for indepence from Britain? I abhor bad leadership but our leaders are not the cause of all our woes.

Do not say what you don't know, China has the cheapest salary when it comes to Labour, this is why so many countries uses them as assembling countries to products developed in Western Regions, you dont expect them to pay higher than what they pay laborers in their country, because they will be running at a big loss, If you clamor for increment, they will simply abandon Nigerians and employ Chinese laborers who are even ready to take lesser salaries than what they are already offering. Shebi them force you go work for there ?

For the salary, it is not different from the scale in China. The average workers' salary in China is in the range of 200 US dollars. Health coverage is a luxury o. Make una just commot this salary aspect. Duration of working hours is also nothing in most places in China.

It's amazing when Nigerians take to social media to vent their anger, because the question that comes to mind is simple, do you know your employer?. The Chinese state is what it is today because of extremely cheap labour, even American companies find it comfortable to outsource to China,in a bid to maximize gains and beat competitors. My point is, you don't expect a man that enslaves his brother for profit to treat a foreigner better.

Labour unions only practise unionism in favour of financially buoyant and committed members, not some group of people living from hand to mouth. Forget that charade by TUC or NLC, they can only mobilize those guys as foot soldiers in achieving a greater goal. Let the bigwigs like oil workers have any issue and you're going to see them flex muscle.

OkikiOluwa1:
1st Bullet

The Nigerian government & Nigerians are the 1st molesters! The FG has failed to develop & protect Nigerians. The Companies Act on employers rights is dead!

2nd Bullet

Workers do not v the right to complain about salary or wages when they are employed. They v the opportunity of negotiating before employment. The only complain or question they can raise is when there's a clause for increment. So... in my opinion, those labourers taking N15,000, N20,000, N30,000 etc took up the job because they agreed with their employers.

3rd Bullet

People should learn how to fight for themselves by seeking Human Rights Commission offices in their State. Any employee that's maltreated should run to them. They are helpful if well seeked.
They should also ask questions from their employers like clauses in their contract or employment, if there's going to be pay rise at a particular time or a pay rise for extra service. Any job that is not worth doing from the start is not worth doing till one is sacked or resigned!

Last Bullet

It's a pity Chinese, Indians, Lebanese & other Asian companies v taken advantage of Nigerian government's laxity in protecting her citizens.
I can mention names of companies in Lagos & other parts of Nigeria that enslave their staff. Tech-Mahindra, Mikano Generator, Jubaili Bros, most of those Asian companies in Ikorodu & other parts of Lagos State. They practice modern slavery?
When your government, Nigerians also enslave you, you are at everyone's mercy.
That happens all over the third world countries. Like you said, the Nigerian govt. takes advantage of her own citizens while won't this evil people do the same thing. Let thèm try it in a civilized world and see what will happen to them.

DBestDoc: Sometime ago, i witnessed an incident at Trans Amadi, PH where some mopol guys escorting a lebanese beat the living daylight outa a driver because he didn't clear from the road for them to transport their almighty foreigner. They only left him after breaking his windshield.

Meanwhile, those were guys instituted to protect the lives and properties of common Nigerians. After the act those policemen put up in the presence of the lebanese, i'm wondering why he won't maltreat his employees assuming he is an employer. How on earth are these foreigners supposed to respect and take us seriously? It's really PATHETIC to say the least.

Back to topic...
@ op because NIGERIA is a useless country. All you get for being Nigeria is fighting for yourself, there is no country whatsoever!
What do you expect of uneducated, untrained , poorly paid ( servant) police officers?. It's part of the larger problems of Nigeria.

Actually this is how Chinese and Indians treaty their follow country men both in China and India respectively. if you read china or india news new day is the same news of worker maltreatment. there are few cases in Europe and America where by Chinese and Indians Employer are treating their follow country as salves. i had an indians friend who always that his Nigerian subordinate are lazy, i ask lazy as how, i told that they try to do just the bear minimum. for example most Nigeria hate working overtime and they try to used their causal leave even if they dont need it etc. and i told him that Nigerian work to live or live to work. this is the Huge different between Nigerians and Chinese / Indians so even if Nigeria government improve. most nigerian employees will not enjoy working for them.

If they treat their Chinese or Indian citizens in America the way you described, I bet you , the victims are not saying anything. We have EEOC and they are very effective. There is no chance for workers maltreatment here because of the existing labor law plus America is a litigious society.
