The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of scheduled
stream two orientation programme of the 2014 Batch ‘B’ Orientation in six states billed
to start on Monday September 1 due to the dreaded Ebola virus disease in the country.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brig Gen Johnson olawumi who announced the
decision in Kubwa Orientation Camp in the Federal Capital Territory said the corps
members deployed to Adamawa, Bauchi, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Yobe States will be
affected by the directive.
Olawumi however assured the prospective corps members that they would not suffer
unduly as the NYSC would ensure that they were not cheated in any way by staying longer
than necessary at home.
It would be recalled that the Stream Two exercise, meant for the affected northern
states, is scheduled for Monday, September 1, to Monday, September 22.
Corps members posted to Adamawa State will have their orientation programme in Niger;
Bauchi corps members are expected to resume in Plateau State orientation camp, while
those posted to Borno State are to proceed to the Nasarawa State camp.
Other affected states are Gombe, where corps members are expected to serve in
Benue, with Jigawa State corps members expected to have their orientation programme in
Kaduna.
Corps members posted to Yobe State are expected to resume at the Federal Capital
Territory Orientation camp.

Why wasn't Lagos stream 2 affected? Afterall, many cases have been reported in Lagos and even deaths. All plans to raise the prospectives' blood pressure SHALL not materialize!

This is saddening,this is just an avenue to victimise we posted to the NE states which never was our fault.What justifies exclusion of Lagos knowing fully well that Lagos already has reported cases of Ebola? infact,lag shud hav topped d list.Graduated since february,movd servic 4rm july 2 august,now sept 4 som ppl&now again,we don't when..Shouldn't they just scrap the scheme? Lost interest already in it...Wishd 1 cud work wtout d certificate.NYSC is becoming more political than suppose.

Government officials in Nigeria will not stop disappointing. Empty bragging without necessary action is what they have being doing since time immemorial. Misinformation minister, the dishonorable Labaran Maku boasted about a vaccine against Ebola virus sometimes in April, here we are today and we are still waiting for UNCLE SAM to bail us out.
With the Ebola outbreak, the orientation has been put on hold for some selected states. My surprise is that Lagos state that happens to be the present center of Ebola ( judging from report in the media ) in Nigeria is not included.

Osun state is not among the affected states. God I bless your mighty name. Somebody should fast forward the calender before this people change mind and include Osun and lagos states. For the affected mates, you should not ask why because God knows why. He is doing it for a reason. Best of luck to all the stream 2 corp members.

This can't be because of Ebola. If it is because of Ebola, why is it that Lagos the only place with confirmed cases is not affected, instead the states mentioned are more of those with security concerns. Looks more like trying to avoid admitting that security challenges in some states have not yet been properly contained and the 2nd best thing to blame is the much dreaded Ebola. Is Ebola present in Borno or BH?

I think Lagos State should be among these States, unless the reason is because of something else and not really EVD as reported.

Foolish people ever liveth, imagine the bolded, suspending orientation in states that may never smell Ebola, and leaving out Enugu, Lagos, and states around them. Oga o! It is bad for a country to be ruled by someone slow, I swear!

Absolute Nonsense! What happened to Lagos and Enugu states? undecided The states mentioned here has not even recorded Ebola case.

Maybe they meant to say boko haram instead.

LIES... ebola is not the reason.... these are northern states... last i checked ebola is mostly in Lagos.... these states could also be the states they intend to phase out during 2015 elections.....

This is rubbish! When insurgency ruled most parts of the North, they did not suspend NYSC. Now because of Ebola that is mainly in Lagos and does not have stronghold in the north, they are suspending and reassigning postings. mstchwww
