The Veterinary Council of Nigeria, VCN,
has called for the reinforcement of laboratories to
assist in proper diagnosis of animal diseases in the
country.
President of the Council, Professor Garbura
Sharubutu, made the passionate appeal during the
continuing education seminar organised for
veterinary doctors in Owerri.
The VCN boss explained that the continuing
education programme was a deliberate effort of the
Veterinary Council to acquaint members of modern
techniques in the profession.
The issues bordering on the welfare of animals and
ways of preventing them from transmitting diseases
to human beings were extensively discussed at the
seminar.
Sharubutu expressed concern over the continuous
abuse of animal rights in the country, as well as
regretted that sick animals were even given
medications without proper diagnosis, leading to a
situation that ultimately endangers the lives of the
animals and human beings
