Adebayo Faleti, according to some reports early Monday, was said to have passed to the great beyond after battling an ailment which had slowed him down in recent times.

The legendary artist and poet, however debunked the rumors after a Punch newspaper correspondent had a telephone chat with him on Monday afternoon.

“I am alive,” he said in Yoruba. “I am alive. Long life will be my lot.”

Meanwhile, it was gathered on Monday that it was another leading Yoruba culture promoter, Chief Supo Koseemani, that died.

Speaking in a telephone interview with foremost scholar and writer, Prof. Akinwumi Osola, he noted that it was information on Koseemani’s death that some people were misinterpreting.

Isola, an associate of Faleti, said, “Baba Faleti is still very much alive. Many people have called to me to inquire about the state of things with him. He is still very much alive. It is true that he had been indisposed for some time. But he has got better now.

“The person who has passed on is Alagba Supo Koseemani, the specialist in Yoruba proverbs. I gathered that he passed on in Ibadan on Sunday.”
