Witness says angry Sawyer spat blood on health workers

IrohinOodua has been reliably informed that the 40 year old late Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer deliberately visited Nigeria to ensure the country has her bitter dose of the Ebola Virus Disease, (EVD). Sawyer died on July 26 after falling ill on arrival at the Murtala International Airport, (MMA) in Lagos.

He was later diagnosed with EVD from which complications he later died.

The Department of State Security, (DSS) confidential report on Sawyer may have informed the statement by President Goodluck Jonathan who described Sawyer ‘mad.’

The late Liberian was taken to the First Consultants Medical Centre Ltd where he died five days after desperate efforts to save his life by Nigerian medical personnel failed.

A medical source said Sawyer knew he had the EVD, his senior sister having died of the disease. The source said Sawyer’s sister was scheduled to marry a Nigerian, but that the proposed marriage failed when the bridegroom absconded on learning that his bride was infected with the deadly virus.

“Sawyer felt his late sister was infected by the Nigerian. In anger, he decided to visit Nigeria and spread the virus in the spirit of vengeance. But in reality, the Nigerian bridegroom had no EVD.” Unfortunately, IrohinOodua could not independently confirm this claim. However, Sawyer’s widow said her husband was in Nigeria to seek better medical attention for the EVD. If her claims her true, then it means that Mr Sawyer was aware of his status, though he did not disclose same at the First City Consultant where the was admitted after falling ill on arrival.

The source revealed that in a fit of anger, Sawyer spat blood on health workers assigned to him while he continuously cursed them. “He was unruly. He spat blood and turned the hospital into a kind of battle ground,” said the source who claimed he got first hand information on the gory incidence.

Authorities at the First City Consultant said Sawyer was fully conscious and gave his clinical history but did not make reference to being EVD patient.

“He told us he is a Senior Diplomat from Liberia. Laboratory investigations confirmed malaria whilst other test for HIV, Hepatitis B&C were negative. He was admitted and treatment commenced”, a statement signed by First City officials, Dr B.N Ohiaer and Dr A.S Adadeveoh stated.

Dr Adadeveoh later died some days after Sawyer passed on. Mrs Adadevoeh, the granddaughter of Nigeria’s independence struggle icon, Mr Herbert Olayinka Samuel Macaulay has been described by many Nigerians as the “heroine of the time” considering her sacrifices before she died of the disease which she contacted from the late Sawyer.

"What on Earth would make Mr Patrick Sawyer decide to visit Nigeria in the hope of getting a BETTER HEALTH TREATMENT?"..

This has to some extent provided an answer..

How is it known her fiance ( not sure why people are claiming he's nigerian), does not have the virus?

Where is he?

His widow's explanation makes a little sense. But why didn't he get himself on a plane to america where he would have been properly taken care of instead Nigeria?

He probably the saw the way they wasted the lives of victims like his sister in Liberia and he felt like a caged rat that needed to get out of there fast.

Instead of just calling d citizen of another country mad, wat stops d f.g from cautioning d Liberian gov't which knowingly allowed a px that had contact with an Ebola mortality n showed signs of ill health to board a plane t Nigeria after Obtaining a travel Pass from his employers (the gov't) ??

I heard a similar story from our medical director that just came back from Ebola control committee meeting, He said Late Sawyer contracted d disease from his sista n was aware dat he had virus, even on his way to Nigeria a CCTV recording at Liberia airport shows a restless Sawyer trying to avoid contact with his fellow Liberian bt when he got to Nigeria n was admitted he caused lots of trouble at d hospital where he was admitted, he also said that it got to a point where Late Sawyer removed all d infusions on him saying he wanted to go to Calabar something that led to physical struggle between him n d late Dr Ameyo I guess that's how d Dr contracted d virus, he also said that it got to a point when Late Sawyer start splashing urine and blood on the Health workers that were taking care of him, in fact lots of drama that the man performed as they say. So if anyone said he intentionally came to Nigeria to infect us I won't argue due to the first hand reports I heard.
But all I av to say is that God should forgive him cos u can Neva quarrel with a dead man...

In April, the Nigeria minister of Information, Labaran Maku claimed that Nigeria had stockpiles of vaccines and was ready for the epidemic. Quoting PremiumTimes of April 2nd, 2014 he said….

“Nigeria is ready, because the Ministry has taken every precaution, including getting the vaccines and medicines in case there was any incident in Nigeria”.
Now here is the twist leading to Patrick Sawyer...
The widow of Patrick Sawyer revealed that her husband believed he would be better-off in Nigeria than in Liberia when he contracted the virus,due to the Minister’s publicized statements.
The disinformation from the Minister of information is implicated in the pandemic crises that has killed several Nigerians and rendered over 100 in quarantine as the Ebola outbreak rocks the nation.
