Top 3 mistakes when dealing with bed bugs:

1. Only killing bed bugs where you see them.
Bed bugs are grand master ninjas. They can climb walls, tuck into tight spaces, and feed on their host without being detected. You may spot some bugs, shells, and eggs when you lift up your mattress or open a dresser drawer, but it’s a sure bet that there are more hiding somewhere else in your room.

Regardless of the products that you use, it’s not enough to attack the bed bugs you spot scurrying around. You need to bring the fight to them, with treatment methods that hit them where they’re hiding. High-pressure steamers can kill bed bugs deep inside walls, floorboards, upholstered furniture, and more. Sprays and powders can be applied in cracks and crevices to kill bed bugs nested where you can’t see them (just be sure to read the label on the product to see where it can be safely used).

2. Using products that bed bugs are resistant to.
Just a few years ago, there was a wide range of chemical compounds on the market that were proven to kill bed bugs, either on contact or over time. Over the years, bed bugs have developed resistances to many of these compounds, and those products are no longer as effective. To cut their losses in the development of these compounds, the manufacturers started selling to hardware stores and supermarkets at a discounted price.

Since these off-the-shelf sprays may not be able to curb your bed bug population, don’t use them! Instead, opt for newer cutting-edge contact professionals ( CHOGON FACILITIES TEAM) for a residual sprays that are effective against all strains of bed bugs. They may cost a bit more, but you will have peace of mind knowing that what you are applying is doing the job. We only carry the newest products with no known bed bug resistance.

3. Not preventing re-infestation.
Let’s say you’ve done everything right, and killed almost every bed bug in your home. You rest easy for the first time in weeks, thinking you’ve finally won the war. A few nights may go by, and one morning you discover a fresh cluster of itchy bits. What gives?

Unfortunately, re-infestation is common when preventative measures aren’t taken. What brought them in the first place – whether its a job, bus or friends house – may bring them back again. A single bed bug can lay as many as 500 eggs, and nymphs start feeding immediately after they hatch.

This is why it’s so important to put up long-term defenses as part of your bed bug treatment strategy, bed bug traps, and residual powders are great ways to help ensure that you won’t be waking up to bites again.

When approaching a bed bug infestation, it’s important not to underestimate your foe. Your treatment needs to be thorough and decisive.

We experts are proficient in identifying all kinds of infestations and provide solutions accordingly. We undertake quarterly fumigation of premises; Larviciding, Mist fogging, Spraying, Dusting.

Below is a detailed background of the fumigation services required

UNDERSTANDING COMMON PESTS BEHAVIOUR AND HABITS PREAMBLE
Effective pest control management requires proper understanding of pest factors such as types, biology, habits, available control methods etc. of pests commonly encountered in our environment. It also requires the understanding and manipulation of environmental factors that aid the proliferation of pests and common bugs.

We earnestly believe that for a pest free work place, you need to fumigate your office at least once every quarter for the following reasons;

PEST FACTORS

• TYPES OF COMMONLY ENCOUNTERED PESTS
There are numerous orders, families, and species of pests in this environment and quite a number of them have high mutability (i.e. ability to change their properties to new strains within a short period and thus develop resistance to common methods and control agents). The probability of recurrence within a relatively short period of apparent extermination of pests is therefore high.

For example, a recent study conducted by a body of pest specialists revealed that for every 1-cockroach seen and destroyed there are 99 others yet to be seen and destroyed. Thus short spaced-out and regular fumigation using updated agents is necessary to overcome the numerous possibilities of the different types of pests.
The different groups of commonly encountered indoor pests are as follows;
• rooster roaches e.g. Brown, Brown-banded, Surinam, Oriental etc.
• Occasional invaders e.g. Bugs, Centipedes, Mites, Beetles, Crickets etc.
• Ants e.g. Carpenter, Soldier, Pharaoh, Acrobat, Crazy, Large yellow etc.

• Blood feeders e.g. Fleas, Bugs, Lice, Mites etc.
• Fabric and pantry pest e.g. Beetles, Bugs, Millipedes etc.
• Envenomizing pests e.g. Spiders, Wasps, Scorpions
• Vertebrae e.g. Mice, Rats, Worms, Mites, Moths etc.
• Flies e.g. House, Cluster, Bottle, Gnats etc.

PEST BIOLOGY
A common denominator in the biological properties of most pests is the relatively short period of reaching sexual maturity, high number of litters’, and rapid large population build up.
For example, the house mouse (Mus musculus Linnaeus) reaches sexual maturity in 30 – 35 days, averages 6 –7 litters, each with at least 6 young mice. Thus if 1 house mouse finds its way into your office, it builds up about a population of 30 – 35 (minus those from its offspring’s) within a relatively short period of less than one year.

• PEST HABITS
Most indoor pests are good climbers, good jumpers (can jump down many feet), good squeezers (can pass tiny holes and gaps), good hiders, secluded nesters (nest in dark secluded areas where nesting material such as paper, cardboard, files etc. are readily available), shy and anti social etc. All these factors combine to increase the possibility of missing out a few during a one off fumigation exercise and increase the perpetuity of these pests.
For example, the roof rat (Rattus rattus, Linnaeus) unlike the house mouse is very shy and antisocial thus avoids unusual items and changes in its habitat thereby making its control relatively more challenging. It is therefore imperative to conduct regular and repeated fumigation exercises in order to overcome these self-perpetuating habits of commonly encountered pests.

• HEALTH RISKS
Most of the pests have serious potential health risks and hazards being vectors, carriers and or transmitters of various diseases. These diseases have been found to be under-diagnosed in our environment due to dearth of modern diagnostic facilities. Thus a number of fevers assumed to be malaria fever are actually due to some of these pest borne diseases.
Examples include;
I. Plague – deadly disease vectored by rodent and rats
II. Leptospirosis – vectored by rodents and rats
III. Tulaeremia – vectored by flies
IV. Relapsing fevers – vectored by louse and tick
V. Oroya Fever- transmitted by sand flies
VI. Enteric fevers (Typhoid and Paratyphoid) – flies play a significant role in transmission
VII. Food Poisoning and Cholera – vectored by houseflies (Musca domestica)

and a host of other common communicable diseases, which impair health, increase medical expenditure, reduce productive man-hours and ultimately reduce organizational productivity and effectiveness. It is therefore imperative to ensure that regular pest control activities are carried out to avoid the physically, psychologically and financially costly prospect of pest related diseases
