Guys,

I brought in a 9 weeks old Boerboel just last week and eversince my 13 months old Boerboel has gone very paranoid.

I actually bought the new pup in because it's from a very fantastic bloodline that I could not take off my eyes.

Guys please I need advise on how to socialise them.

Keep them separate until the younger Boerboel is big and strong enough not to get killed. Don't let your investment in the puppy go to waste.

Put the adult dog in a strong kennel, put a prong collar with a very long leash and play with your new puppy in front of him. Anytime he is crazy just give a sharp and firm correction with the leash and reward him when he is relaxed and ignored the little puppy. Do this and you should be fine in 2 weeks. Please be careful with your new pup and test him with muzzle before trusting him because my aggressive dog broke his kennel unknowingly and killed one of my pup and the experience is not funny. Goodluck.

Thanks Seun.

With this puppy I it means I will be having 3 dogs.
* the 13 months old Male
* the new male puppy
* And a 9 months old female

I have heard of cases where Dogs fight because of females. After doing as you all have said I sure hope the 13 months old male will not fight and kill the smaller male cos of the bitch?
Like I said I got the puppy Male due to certain features it's parents have.

I await your comment and thanks for all your advices. They have been worthwhile

I think the "firm correction with the leash" is a very bad idea because it will teach your adult dog that the puppy's presence leads to aggressive corrections. That will not reduce his aggression. However, there is an approach called desensitization and counterconditioning that may work.

He surely will, and that is why you must keep them separate! They will fight because of the dam and because they are both intact males, and your puppy will die. The purpose of desensitization and counterconditioning is to prevent a complete disaster if there is a mistake that causes them to meet each other such as an escape from the kernel or a leash breaking or a muzzle being removed because it wasn't securely fastened. Even if they seem to be fine with each other after the counterconditioning, I wouldn't trust the adult not to kill the puppy in my absence.

Maybe I should have it Castrated then.

good day to you all, well to my own knowledge, I think putting d adult on a leash is a bad ideal, wen dogs are on leash, u arose their aggression to do more same as when they are caged. A caged dog nd a chained dog r more aggressive than a free dogs except when other factors such as bloodline are included. I think the fist question to as here is::::: HOW GOOD CAN YOU CONTROL YOUR DOG if u can't control u dog properly, then there is little to what u can do.
1) get a proper control of the adult dog, preferably, teach him the basic obedience command lik sit stay.
2) I dnt adive u cage, when u less busy, release the bigger dog nd play with the smaller dog
3) gradually introduce them to play with ur supervision. if the bigger one shows any sign of aggression, tell him "stop it" or "bad", if those not really act to that, add a little beating together with the command word stop it or bad.
4) do dat more nd let see how far. I hope I av been able to help. can contact me JADO on:08025074110,08065425620. pin; 2B11B7BB

You are wrong Seun. I lost my female pup due to the attack from my bigger male and I think you even sent me message both on here and Facebook. After the damage has been done, I socialized the other little male with the adult male the same way I mentioned above and all went well under 3 days. Dog is dog and a stubborn dog need a firm correction to change his attitude . All what you need is timing, whenever he shows any form of aggression towards the pup, give the correction and it will send message to him that aggression brings pain not the pup. If you refuse to socialize them now and wait till they are both grown up, you are asking for big trouble when they will be fighting for dominance and pack leadership. I use positive reinforcement to train my dogs but you have to correct some behaviors one way or the other. Some expert even use electric collar but it's extremely dangerous if you are not a pro.

i subscribe to much of Jado's view asides from the add a little .... As much as you can, keep the female out of the introductions totally. brief sessions daily with your presence should do the trick . Never leave them together alone until your pup is 4 months old.

Also oluomoadebayo was spot on with doing the intro now , the earlier with your supervision the better ... imagine trying to unlock a 100kg tangle of paws , jaws and brute body mass !!!

Had a similar situation with "miladies" too ....

finally alternate between methods and choose whats ideal for your situation , like humans no 2 dogs are the same.

Dogs are sometimes unpredictable and you don't know what could trigger their aggression, I don't think it's a good idea to let him free prior to proper socialization.

Op an angry dog is an aggressive dog. More so when you seem to pay more attention to the younger dog. Let their cage be facing each other always.

This stop, bad command may only work in ur presence. Like someone said don't allow ur investment waste.
