Taking care of your skin is important. One secret to looking good is a healthy skin. Also don’t forget that one of the first signs of aging begins with the skin. So pay attention to these tips for clear, healthy and youthful looking skin.

Understand your skin type

This is key to knowing how to treat your skin. Skin type has nothing to do with complexion and is more about whether you have dry skin or oily skin. If you have oily skin, then moisturizing on a regular basis is doing you more harm than good and if your skin type is dry and you are not moisturizing regularly, your skin will give you trouble.

Use a Simple and Safe Daily Care Routine for your face

Here’s the thing, it’s not about washing your face with soap and then heading out to face your day; you need to give your face more attention that that. And if you sleep with make up on, may heaven forgive you! When it comes to your face, have a simple care routine. Use a gentle cleanser, wipe a toner on your face and neck if you want to and then moisturize. The frequency with which you do this would depend on your skin type.

Protect your skin from the harsh sun

The Nigerian sun can be harsh and as a Nigerian woman, you need to learn how to protect your skin from the UV rays. Just because your skin tone is dark does not mean that the sun cannot damage your skin. It just means that you don’t see the damage, which is worse. So always use a cream that has sun protection.

(Hint: Shea butter contains sun screen and can be used when you’re going out in the sun. Read this post for more on Shea butter)

Don’t go out into direct sunlight if you can help it and if you need to be outside, use a small umbrella to protect your skin. Your 80 year old self will thank you!

Use make up that suits your skin

These days Nigerian women don’t have to suffer in silence; we have lots of make up and cosmetic products that are made for women of color so stick with those. They’re good for your skin.

Love yourself and show your skin some love!

How To Choose the Best Eye Cream for Dark Circles and home remedies
If you have never chosen an eye cream before to treat puffiness, dark circles, or to lessen the appearance of blood vessels under the eyes, you will find that the brand and ingredient choices seem endless and you may wonder if choosing the best eye cream is even possible. With so many options available, this can seem like a daunting task; however, the more you understand your skin’s own individual type and how it reacts to different ingredients, choosing the best eye cream will be much easier.

The best way to begin is by narrowing down your choices by not only your skin type, but by the issues you’re trying to treat. This is because the best eye cream isn’t necessarily the one that’s the most expensive or has the most fancy-sounding ingredients, but one that will have the most effective impact on the sensitive skin under and around your eyes without clogging pores and creating more problems.

Another ingredient that you should look for in the best eye cream for dark circles is a brightening agent that can help you reduce the appearance of dark circles cosmetically.

Factors that contributes to dark circles or eye puffiness

Lack of Sleep: Get more sleep at least 8 hours in a day, and be consistent, don't overdo it or saty up late especially into the early hours of morning.
Tiredness
Smoking, Drugs and alcohol
Dietary patterns: Oily and fast foods is unhealthy and tells on the skin.Eat lots of fruits, reduce salt intake, drink more water(this is the best gift you can give your skin), exercise properly and watch yourself glow.
Allergies and too much tears.( Yes, cold, cattargh and too much crying into your piullow at night can cause eye puffiness). For a faster relief, try visine.
Some key factors worth considering when hunting for the most effective dark circle cream are:

Ingredients that fight aging
Ingredients that don’t burn or sting your eyes
Ingredients that protect and strengthen blood vessels (called vasoprotective ingredients)

Best Ingredients in Eye Cream to look out for

cucumber extract
Vitamin E
Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Palmitoyl Oligopeptide
Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone
