An agent/legitimate citizens of another state performing his legitimate duty is attacked in your country and you do not care.
Are you waiting until all agents of you country serving in locations outside your country are identified and attacked before you recognize that this may have been the first stage of a move by some third party/countries intelligence service to undermine you country by orchestrating a conflict between your country and that of the affected agent.
Before you say the affected agent had no right in this country it might be wise of you to note that our country Nigeria has people /agents in service of Nigeria's interests active in other countries.

An aside.

It's not hard to spot an Air Marshall in LOS.

They stick out like a sore thumb but then you have to know what you're looking for.

The question still remains; why didn't they "love" Patrick Sawyer, who was an American citizen, like they "love" this federal air marshal?

Ozedy: Even the followers in US does not talk ill of their country d way we are here in Nigeria. Nigeria is far better than many countries in the world. think of what you can do for the country not what the country can do for you. the highest employer of labour in US is the private sectors not the government and so on.
yes Nigeria is better than some third world countries that have nothing compared to what God has blessed Nigeria with in mineral and human resources but the failed leadership has turned Nigeria to a perpetual third world country. Critiquing the Govt in democracy is the highest form of patriotism. As long as it is constructive. Nigeria has a long way to go and I hope she gets there. The leadership has bastardized the economy because they see Nigeria as their family business that they can milk dry. You won't believe the kind of critique Obama goes thru here. It's for the betterment of the people and the country, so , nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

I'm shocked nobody has asked the pertinent questions:
Which airport?

The story says, Lagos airport

Where at the airport did this incident occur?

The story says, a public side of the airport.

Where is CCTV footage of the incident ?

The footage will be analyzed by the security agencies.

Yes I do believe that. Ask yourself why Nigeria is a third world country with all the wealth the almighty bestowed on her ?. It's because of kleptomanic and oligarchic leadership stealing the commonwealth dry. How do you explain all the wrong steps the leadership has been making. The country need a new focused and patriotic leadership not the ones that are stealing the country to bankruptcy.

And you my dear, need to stop watching "24". A US air marshal (the ones on the east coast are harder to spot) has NO jurisdiction on the ground of another country (on foreign soil, he's a dude with a gun and some countries will require him to register that gun with local police in a new location), just like the Nigerian SSS officer will be arrested if he shoots someone in New Jersey (at least till he explains why the heck that was necessary). Even if your agents on foreign soil are being attacked, your country has no legal right except to demand through proper channels for justice (that's why the CIA exists, so the US can circumvent proper channels). Example of real-life situation: Russian ex-KGB guy who got radioactively poisoned before he landed in the UK. They never solved the case because the trail ended in Russia and the UK police has no jurisdiction in Russia. If this air marshal had pulled his gun in MMIA, he would explained himself and had to hand the case over to Nigerian police and maybe SSS. He did the right thing by getting on a plane back home. If US agents are in danger in Nigeria, the Nig govt has to get involved. Another example of this is how Pakistani troops led US Navy Seals to Bin Laden's compound and then got of the way. If those Seals had entered without prior clearance and shot that compound up, Obama would have had a lot of explaining to do. Same reason the War on Drugs in South America is funded by the US, but not fought by the US. The CIA, on the other hand, their job is to be anywhere relevant, and to be quiet about it. So as to avoid pesky laws grin

Nigeria is a third world country not because white man says so because that's the fact. How do you explain an average Nigerian living on $5 a day. There is no single hospital in the country that is up to world standard hence the President, his wife and other kleptocrats run abroad for their medical needs. The level of employment is miserable for a country that shuns out hundreds of thousands of graduates yearly. Electricity is rationed, schools are not to world class standards. So many things like that is what United Nation uses as standard measurement for grading countries. My friend, to be candid with you, our country has a long way to go. My critisism of Nigeria is not out of malice but out of hope and goodness for the country I love. God help Nigeria and Nigerians.

A 50 man commitee will immediately be set up to investigate the matter. As soon as a conclusion is reached in the investigation, a 20 man commitee will be saddled with the responsibility to study and send a final report to the presidency. And let''s pray that the presidency does not set up its own in house commitee to further look into the matter. I just hope the US govt is patient enough to recieve a 100 page inconclusive report detailingwhat exactly happened or did not happen to its citizen on our soil. Obama sef go tire.

You assume that we're waiting for your incompetent agencies.

Nigerian police is a laughing stock of the world.

You can't manage to find 300 girls and you want us to wait for you to find 1 person?

They took the syringe to the US, it will be fingerprinted and contents analyzed.

The perp will be identified and brought to the US for trial.

Hmmmm.... Wait is that the plan? To get into US jail for better standard of living? Hmmmmm

GENERALLY what you have explained are the PRINCIPLES for international cooperation and diplomatic protocol.
However, when you have money and as a result power over others you can circumvent these principles as the US has done several times. This is also true even within our African families & villages/towns/tribes on traditional rituals and protocols- if you have enough money & power, there will be people willing to do the things "on your behalf" wink

For example, the US took out Osama bin Laden WITHOUT informing (talk less of receiving approval from) the Paksitani government as reported hereunder:

Osama bin Laden raid team was prepared to fight Pakistani forces

The strained US-Pakistan relationship has come under further pressure after it emerged that the assault team which killed Osama bin Laden was prepared to fight its way out of Pakistan if necessary.

President Barack Obama ordered two helicopter-borne backup squads to shadow the main US attack force in case it came under fire from Pakistani security forces as it stormed Bin Laden's house.

The Americans had orders to avoid a firefight but to use their weapons if unavoidable, a senior White House official told the New York Times.

The revelations come amid continuing furore in Pakistan over the perceived breach of sovereignty by US forces.

On Monday the Guardian reported that Pakistan and the US struck a secret deal permitting US military action to capture or kill Bin Laden almost a decade ago, during the rule of President Pervez Musharraf.

Responding through a spokesman and his Facebook page, Musharraf denied that any deal, written or verbal, had been struck.

"The accusation of my having allowed intrusion into Pakistan by US forces chasing Osama bin Laden is absolutely baseless," he said.

"Never has this subject even been discussed between myself and President Bush leave aside allowing such freedom of action that would violate our sovereignty (sic)."

In January 2002, General Tommy Franks, who headed the US Central Command at the time, told the Associated Press the US had a deal allowing US troops to cross the border in pursuit of bin Laden. Pakistan denied it.

From: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/may/10/bin-laden-fight-hostile-pakistan

It is not unlikely that Nigeria has the same relationship with our neighbours in Benin Republic and SHOULD have with other African countries IF we extract enough mileage out of our "Big Brother" largesse to these countries.

Caseless2: as far as i'm concerned, nigerian govt put national interest first , and they have bn excellent. Again, u cant undermine the effort the US put in d safety of her citizens. Even those US citizens that have joined isis are stil respected cos they're stil americans , but chose the wrong way.
Do u knw how many Nigerians are on death-rows in various countries out there, killed for no just reason and nothing is being done about it by our leaders?
Do u knw how many Nigerians are infected with ebola in those affected countries and we've not done anything to bring them home like d US did to her citizens who were infected with ebola by flying them back to d US? We jst dont worth human lives in this part of the world.
My friend do not deviate, we are discussing about this particular case and the reason why the guy is being treated by the US govt, it is the same reason why Ebola victims are being treated by the Nigerian government.
He wasn't just flown out to the US, he was already on the way there, he went to the airport to board a flight.
You musn't use very event as an excuse to display your frustration. You shot yourself in the foot here.

the white teachers wont say much about the Nok culture and Igbo-ukwu civilisation, the karnem-bornu, Bini and the Oyo empires.

the same white teachers also said a white man discovered the river niger, as if the west Africans whose lives revolved around the river were not human enough to have discovered their own river.
