Emir Of Mubi Flees Home, Relocates With Family To Yola by Nobody: 11:26am On Sep 10, 2014
Following the close up of Boko Haram insurgents on his domain, the second largest city in Adamawa State, the Emir of Mubi Emirate, Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, on Monday night relocated to Yola, the state capital. A palace source told our correspondent the emir arrived Yola with members of his family. “The emir, alongside his entourage drove out of Mubi because of reports that the town was not safe for him, he is currently in Yola where he has some engagements as Amirul Hajj, the leader of state government delegation to Saudi Arabia”. Also, a driver in the convoy told our correspondent that the emir had initially refused to accede to pressure from security personnel to move to Yola. It was gathered that he later agreed after communicating with Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, who persuaded him to leave.
However, more people have continued to flee the city of Mubi and other neighbouring towns following news that insurgents were advancing towards Vintim, the village of Air Marshal Alex Badeh which stood some 15kilometers from Mubi town. “It took the intervention of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh to persuade the emir to relocate to Yola temporarily when it appeared theinsurgents were a few kilometers from Mubi.
From the reports we have, they have not yet attacked Mubi but there is panic”, the source revealed. Meanwhile, there are contradictory reports on the whereabouts of Lt. Col Adeboye Obasanjo, who was wounded on Monday during a gun duel between soldiers of the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram’s insurgents in an effort by the soldiers to reclaim Michika from Boko Haram members.
Whereas, a source close to the 23 Armour Brigade, Yola, told our correspondent that the young Obasanjo has been flown out of the state for proper medical attention, the Chief Information Officer of Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Mr. Adamu Dodo confirmed
that Lt. Col. Obasanjo was treated in the hospital.
“Yes, it’s true that Obasanjo’s son is recuperating after a minor surgery and he is in stable condition”, he said. But while asked about the ward he is admitted to, he could not give any information.
Earlier yesterday, the state Acting Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, visited Obasanjo’s Son and saluted all officers of the Nigerian Army who are battling to curtail the activities of insurgents in Mubi Senatorial District. He said the people are proud of the soldiers who are working so hard to keep their fatherland.
