The picture of the Black Scorpion sitting shirtless at the radio table of his front-line command post is reminiscent of the often shirtless Afro Beat king, Fela Ransome Kuti, whose music dominated the airwaves during the years that the Biafran war raged.

Perhaps in a way those two late icons of Nigerian history were kindred spirits, in that they were both unconventional, fearless, dedicated to a cause and slight of build. Fela the music legend worked the piano keyboard with his fingers, while those of the Black Scorpion pulled triggers to unleash war.

We must be careful how we choose heroes in this country!

Because our choice of heroes reflect the kind of nation we aspire to be!

Seeing that YouTube video above you got to question the mental stability of anyone celebrating this kind of character!

We must be careful not to start senseless wars just because we think we can or prove a point. A war is not a tea party.

Yes we must be careful not to start a war but aren't you trying to start a second war by choosing war criminals who have no respect for any rules of engagement as your heroes?

How can a Nation reconcile with choice of heroes like these!

Why is he a war criminal? Did Ojukwu not brazenly execute people during his Biafran adventure? Was he put on trial?

That video does not show Benjamin Adekunle executing anyone, or even expressing approval of such a war crime at any time during or after the war. He may have been vicious and cunning in the prosecution of his battle-front objectives, but the jury is still out on the specific question of whether or not the Black Scorpion committed war crimes, in the legal sense of the term.

Maybe you should provide us with the video of Adekunle shooting a armless war prisoner. The video you uploaded was not him. I believe Adekunle had that soldier court martialed for shooting the said prisoner.

all these igbos with their sentiments of losing Biafran war which they started and never planned well. If ojukwu had a brain, he would've played his cards well by diplomatic approach and not resolve to violence which claimed the life of his people . there would've been republic of Biafra that flourishes with milk and honey. but greed crippled his vision. stop talking trash about the late Brig.Gen. Benjamin Adekunle and blame your blind and myopic ojukwu.

Well said but you can't rule out naivety of the young officer then. Ojukwu is a hero.

To me, he is a disappointment. He died as a wretched rat with blood of innocent men, women and children he killed in the name of one Nigeria. When they shared our niger delta oil after the war he was not given anything not even a liter of oil. No political appointment, not even a decent house. I hope he saw T.. Y. Danjuma and others swimming in billions while he lived and died in perjury. Sad end of a mass murderer.

They are not known for diplomacy or political dexterity.

Biafra defeat turned out to be a blessing in disguise for them as well as the peoples proximate to them.
