Dear Dr. Steroid, thank you for this thread. I need your help, I have some issues with my eyes: its itching me and this itchying causes water to come out of my eyes, it also gives me a running nose and constant sneezing. Please note that this problem is seasonal especially during raining season. I have been to an eye clinic and the eye drop given to me only worked for some minutes and the problem will start again. The name of the eye drop is spersallerge. Please I want you to recommend some drugs that can stop this problem finally for me and also tell me what I can be doing to avoid the reoccurence. Thank you as I await your reply.

Let me say smth b4 Dr. Steroid answers U. The symptoms U described points towards 'Seasonal Eye Allergy' (SAC). To be honest SAC is difficult to treat. This is because as long as the eye is exposed to the things causing such allergic reactions it might continue to result in the itching. The eye drops (such the Sperssallergy) provides temporal relief. But a combination of Antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers will do u more good. Plus try to find out wat triggers the itchings and minimize them.

Thank you Doctor. May God continue to grant you wisdom. Please can you tell me how and what I can use to protect my eyes, can I get a sunshade? Apart from the eyedrops, are there drugs you can recommend for me as well so that I can combine with the eyedrop with it. Moreso, I will like to know if I can be using these drugs and the eye drop any time it triggers. Thank you and God bless you more.

Hello Doc. I went for an eye examination earlier on this year. I could only read the first 3 letters and the optomologist(or is it optometrist) who attended to me said it's possibly glucoma(there's a family history). I did the eye pressure test and it was 16. I wasn't given any medications, just glasses. My question is will the glasses do anything for the supposed glucoma? I'm confused

kk...it shows your V.A was 6/36 since you were only able to read the 1st three letters and that shows you are either myopia or astigmatism..from your tonometry result,it shows your Ocular pressure is ok,would have loved to know the result of your opthalmoscopy and visual field test, that would have confirmed your glaucoma status.please just get your glasses and make sure you go for glaucoma screening at least once or 2wice a year, since glaucoma is familial..glasses have no effect in preventing glaucoma..thank you

pls try use glasses or contact lens as this is what can give you maximum and required vision...frm clinical experience,I ve discovered that glasses don't really correct all vision permanently,it depends on the cause of the refractive error and the magnitude of the error..for patients with low refractive errors, glasses helps to correct their vision over time,so try get your glasses so we can start from there first then you can always go for review of your case after every year,so as to know if there is improvement in your vision or any changes in your refractive status.try eat food rich in vitamins and minerals, these re mainly contained in green leafy vegetable and fruits.

Haloo Doctor

I do experience watery, itching, and reddish eye with light sensitivity. I visited an eye specialist who told me I have allergic conjunctivitis. He prescribed some eye drops for me ( spersadex compound, sodium chromoglycate). He said that it does not have a cure but I can manage it by applying sodium chromoglycate.

He said is a continuous process ( application of sodium chromoglycate) but honestly, I know all eye drops has side effect. Pls what should I do?

The Zaditen Dr. Steroid recommended is both a mast cell stabilizer and antihistamine, so just use that. I prescribe it often for my patients too.

Hello Nobel., some allergic conjunctivitis are seasonal while some come and goes. Like we have advised on this thread, some eye drops do provide relief but its important to also deal with the allergy trigger or the cause. E.g do u work in a dusty or in an environment that's has particles or pollens ? Does the itching come at a certain period or type of the year? Do u have refractive error like Astigmatism ?? I prefer Eye drops like Zaditen or Stafen (Ketotifen) which is an antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer combinations. Sperssallerg which contain Antazoline, is also good for TEMPORAL management of allergic conjunctivitis.

Thanks for responding doctor, I appreciate. I don't work in a dusty environment and it does not come and go, it happens often. I mostly experience the redness and tears eyes when I expose my eyes to any light rays e.g sun, T.V, computer. Can I be using the sodium chloromoglycate as a continues process?... And again what can I use to wipe out stubborn stains from my eyes? Thanks in anticipation.

Hello Doc, my sister has just been diagonised with corneal
opacity, her doctor says the only way out is a corneal
transplant, however due to unavailable eye for d transplant
and also financial constraints we may be waiting for quite a
bit of time. i would like to find out
(1) over a long time basis are there risks of anything
happening to her if the transplant isnt done quickly enough.
(2) i read that some of this transplants can be done in india,
if it were to be done there what do you think is the waiting
period before an eye becomes available.
(3) is this a sickness that can be lived with?
