@OP, please which eye drop can take off brown spot on the eye ball? An Optician said is called Peridium.

Can Optrex eye wash clean it off? what are the possible side effect using Optrex?

Thanks.

Although I can see the brownish spot, Its not clear enough 2 really see if there is a fleshy growth( pterygium) in that pix. However Optrex does not "wash off" pterygium. Optrex contains sodium cromoglicate which has anti-allergic action. If your eye becomes itchy and red (inflammed) Optrex will help reduce those symptoms. For the pterygium itself, as long as it does not affect ur vision, what u can do is just to manage the symptoms associated with it. An advanced pterygium can be surgically excised (cut off), although there is some chances of it growing back. Lastly : Excessive exposure to wind, dust and ultra-rays (sun) can increase the rate of pterygium growth. So get a sunglass.

Pains and stress around the eye can result from many causes : refractive errors, Eyelid muscular issues and even infections. See an eye doctor. They will diagnose you and give u proper advice.

I am an Eye doctor, I discovered through clinical experience that most Patients don't really know about some basic things and problems affecting the eyesn and these has led to simple eye problems being seen as complicated and frightening to most patients and they don't really know how to go about it. There are some eye problems that are hereditary, which requires normal routine eye examinations but due to ignorance most patients tend to lose their sight to eye problems that could have been prevented. I want to use this opportunity to enlighten us and provide solutions to problems affecting the eyes,in line with WHO Vision 2020-Right to sight for all, so all questions concerning the eyes are welcomed

Please I have a problem seeing far objects. Its been a long time the problem started. Also there is dis small yellow substance coming out of my eye area(not the inside of the eye, its the flesh from where the lower eye lashes grow) what could that be. Lastly if I stare for a long time into my. Fone, my eyes wil start aching. Thanks.

pain in the eyes can be caused by diff problems..but the most common is refractive error I.e not able to see far or near objects clearly..the pain arises due to the contraction of the eye's muscles in other for image 2 be formed on the macular..angle closure glaucoma also causes severe pain and reduction in vision..I wil advise u to visit an eye clinic 4 proper diagnosis and treatment

Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by Nobody: 11:12am On Oct 26, 2014
Drsteoids, I discovered I had eye issue in September 2011 when I went for an official training and couldn't read the content on the projector from the seat I sat, whereas my colleague that sat just beside me could read everything clearly. Earlier, I had noticed I don't get to read road direction messages until I get very close

I complained to my HR which gave me a letter through my HMO to see optician.

I was tested by optician and she asked why it took me so long to complain, that my eyes were bad.

I was given glasses. That's how I started using glasses. I use it only to drive, when in an event/class/programme that requires me to see long distance.

My question now is: my glasses does the job currently, do I still need to see an ophthalmologist for treatment? I have never seen an ophthalmologist. Never bothered about corrective treatment, since my glasses puts me in normal eyesight position.

from ur case history it shows u have problem seeing distant objects clearly, this is what causes the eyestrain u do experience cos your tend to contract your muscles in other to see distance objects clearly..u nid visit an eye clinic 4 a proper diagnosis and the required treatment shud be given to u..for the discharge, does it look sticky or watery, and does ur lids gum 2geda wen u wake up in d morning or luks crusty?

Sorry abt ur dad, my warm regards. Glaucoma itself does not have cure and any vision lost before treatment cannot be regain. The best management at that stage is to try to conserve the remaining vision by (1) Monitoring his Eye pressure using glaucoma eyedrops and if necessary surgery to open up the drainage inorder to reduce the pressure. (2) Use of Optical corrections to see if it can make any difference. (3) Low vison therapy and rehabilitation, so that he can still maximize his remaining vision.

You obviously have refractive errors. Likely myopia or myopic astigmatism. See an eye doctor. they will test and perhaps give you glasses.

Op...I started seeing floaters in my eyes then I went for examination. The 1st doc said I have glacouma, the second one said it's ocular pressure which may lead to glaucoma if left untreated. So i took treatments which reduced the pressure from 29 to 16 and the pressure never went up again even after stopping the drugs for 6 months. Am I still at risk? ..and which of the doctors were correct. I understand that i have to be going for regular eye examination but how often? Thank you for this thread.

glaucoma is the 2nd leading cause of blindness worldwide and it is hereditary and arises as a result of sustained increase in intraocular pressure..it affects the ganglion cells of the retina down 2 the optic nerve..glaucoma really has no cure but can be managed wen detected early..once someone is diagnosed of glaucoma,d person needs 2 be placed on life time drugs,as this will help to reduce or minimize the rate of damage to the ganglion cells..4urgery known as trabeculectomy is indicated if the anterior chamber is narrow, but dis can't bring about or restore the patient's vision..but if the patient sticks to his/her drugs and uses them regularly, the remaining vision can be preserved..pls he shud be urgently attended 2..tanx

If its just a refractive error you wouldn't need to see the ophthalmologist. What U should do is go for yearly review of your eyes. However if the doctor diagnosed any other eye issue such as glaucoma, then you might need to see an ophthalmologist. What HMO are u under
