@ Segbas,

The NEBOSH Materials are different. There are materials for HSE PI certification course, there are also materials for IGC, IOGC, IFC, ICC, NGC, International Dip., National Dip.,ITC.

It is always better you understand the NEBOSH course that suits your career prospects so it will be beneficial to your employability or promotion.

Getting a cert. that doesnt suit your career prospect is like putting a square peg in a round hole. I say this because some get the NEBOSH certificate and get a job that delivers as much as 350k/month while others end up not using it.

cheers!

@ Olaomo24,

I understand you work as a confidential secretary. You however did not state the nature of your company. Are they into oil & gas, maritime, engineering/construction, health organization? you answer will best explain your eligibility

I am a Young civil engineer working as a site engineer on a road construction project and planning to get the NEBOSH HSE certification as it is encouraged in the industry for projects. I would like to know which would be advisable for me at this stage of my career- the IGC or thr more specific IGC in Construction.

Hi bro, you're welcome on board! To respond to your enquiry, I candidly think your decision of which NEBOSH certification to go for should be determined by your career plans i.e, whether or not you see yourself building a long-term career in the 'Construction' industry. If you see long-term career in 'construction' then, it could be more sensible to go for the specialized NEBOSH IGC with respect to 'construction'. Just my thoughts!

@brainwave,

I really commend you for creating this platform where every stakeholder in the field of safety can make findings, enquiries, advertorials and offer assistance and support to those who want as well.

To add to your comment, alot of folks actually misunderstand NEBOSH to only mean IGC and vice versa. But the fact is that NEBOSH has programs specifically targeted at several careers *just like you also commented*.

There is HSW ( Health, Safety @ work) - this program from NEBOSH is specially designed for starters in the field of safety.

ITC (International Technical Certificate) - is specially designed for existing and prospective technical engineers or those whose career leanings have a thing or two to do with technicals.

IGC (nternational General Certificate) - is mainly designed and relevant for those who got into an organisation with a local safety training and certificate but at some point need to upgrade themselves. I say this because, IGC3 is a part that requires the delegate to do his project work in a company.

HSE PI (Health safety & environment for the process industry) - is specially designed for those who work or would want to build a career in oil & gas, maritime, construction and engineering company. In short, it is useful for those who work or would want to work in any organisation that has anything to do with processing, production, refining, storage, logistics as the name implies

ICC (International Construction certificate) - designed for those who work in construction or building techology outfits , as well as those intending to

The list goes on and on. I wish a lot of Nigerians will make proper findings before pouring out their hard earned cash into enrolling for a wrong program- unquote.

Cheers

@Segbas,

HSW costs N80,000 (This fee includes your course materials, British council registration fee, Nebosh Examination fee, ID card and registration form). The duration is 3days intensive

IGC costs N220,000 (The fee includes everything stated above). The duration is 2weeks for distant learners.

I'll however recommend HSE PI certification for you, because of its broadness and relevance to your field. The fee is N102,000. (all offers are still included as others)

Does a business administration graduate need this HSE? When I was at the orientation camp, there's this firm that came to sensitise the corps members concerning the HSE prog. & at a very subsidized rate #10,000. My question goes thus: can a business administrator also write this exam & does he need it ? (2) how relevant is HSE to business management ? And (3) what is HSE all about and is it okay to write the one of 10k they brought to camp or one should go & register outside NYSC?

NEBOSH International Oil & gas Certificate will be best appreciated if you intend to work in an oil & gas company, aside that, you should enroll for the HSE PI which covers a broad range of modules to cover, there is usually no eligibility.

IOGC is good
HSE PI is good
IGC is also good

I think its best for you to understand the difference between 'qualification' and 'certification'.

Qualification in HSE means you have the requisite knowlegde and training in HSE

Certification in HSE means you have been certified as a professional, specialist and expert in HSE

International Ceritification in HSE will shoot your career high especially if you are desirous of working in any of the multinational companies in Nigeria today, where it is a MUST.

Thanks

Giving you the HSE PI materials wont do you any good, I say this because NEBOSH reviews their exams every 2months so you could endup using an outdated material that you receive here to prepare for the exam.

Again, if you register for the exam with an accredited center you'll receive the new materials when you enrol.

Pls do not believe anyone who gives you any NEBOSH certification materials, NEBOSH knows their materials circulate often and so they update them frequently. A candid advice!

Does anyone know Joint professionals training & support int'l ? It's this firm that came to Ondo orientation camp and it's like it has a lot of partners including IOSH, NEBOSH, International Institute of Risk and safety management Uk e.t.c.
Their accredited course content are: industrial first aid, basic fire safety, incident investigation and reporting, unsafe act auditing, risk assessment, oilfield safety, drilling safety, transportation safety, marine safety, food handling safety, radiation safety, work at height, confine space, permit to work, emergency management, advance crime detection, LOTO, hazard & effect management, process, occupational health safety, environmental & waste management , crisis management. Does these course content cover all HSE course? And what is your take on JPTS?
