Mauritius authorities have denied Nigerian students studying in the country re-entry because of the Ebola Virus Disease.

A student said they were on holiday in Nigeria and about to return to Mauritius when they received an email from their university authority asking them to stay away, according to report from Daily Trust

An email from the Middlesex University, Mauritius campus, to its students in Nigeria said, “It is with great regret that we have to inform you that the government of Mauritius made the decision on the 12th September 2014 to ban travel to Mauritius for all nationals from Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo due to the recent outbreak of Ebola.

“The passport and immigration office have confirmed that as of the 12th September 2014 they have cancelled all visas and permits issued to nationals of the above countries and entry to Mauritius will not be allowed.

“We are very disappointed to have to advise you that if you travel to Mauritius, you will not be allowed to enter even if you have already booked flights, have a student visa and are planning to travel in the next few days.”

Will they bar me if i have $1m to invest in mauritius?

Why can't our education system be given the desired attention to save Nigerians of all these embarrasment?

If Mauritius with limited resources can better their country, why can't Nigeria with abundant human n natural resources?

Nigerians prefer studying abroad because of so many probs in Nigerian schools.

Getting admission into a Nigerians university is hell.

When u finally got admitted, u have lecturers to face. Even if u are the most inteligent one, u must pay to pass.

A lecturer will do everytin to crush u because he hates u.

If ur course is 5 years, ASUU will add additional 2 or 3 years for u.

Then when u finally graduates, there is no job.

media says Nigeria 'still' has cases of Ebola, what do you expect? GEJ has failed totally in this aspect .. same as media reportage on BH. , why wont a Nigerian be treated like shiit by egyptair ... it'd get worse if we keep quiet

Saudi Arabia allows Nigerian pilgrims

But Mauritius baring naija student

Do they not know that Nigerians leaving Nigeria get screened?

Nigeria foreign office should protest this discrimination from Mauritius

They can subject the guy to screening if they want

It is not discrimination. They're only trying to protect their country. Besides, what Mauritius intended was to screen people coming from Nigeria at the airport but from what i heard, that is not ready yet and they need to hold off people from the time being. This is what your country shuld have done from the get go and you're here saying it's discrimination. like the whole world is supposed to cede to your whims and caprices just because you're a Nigeria. They know what they want from their country and they know the best way to protect their country. Atleast they gave a cogent reason for barring Nigerians, Liberians, Sierra leonians, Congolese etc from travelling from their country for the time being. What reason did you give when you deported Ghanians from Nigeria in the famed Ghana Must Go saga?
