topeorekoy: Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Eddy Onazi signed a new improved 4-year deal at Italian Club SS Lazio yesterday.

The former El Kanemi Warriors player whose impressive performances at the last FIFA World Cup is believed to have contributed to the new deal is expected to earn him to €700,000 per season (from €350,000) according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Speaking through his twitter handle @OgenyiOnazi, the midfielder said, “I say a big thank you to God, my family, my team and my fans as I sign an extension to my contract” Onazi said.

This is slavery, I must say. This is like €18,000.00 per week. Is that players in the Italian league are lowly paid or what?

What's Onazi's worth?
You people need to stop this mentality of always using your colour to justify failures .
You people are comparing what other leagues pay people and individual players from other race to what they pay to African players .Let an African prove himself worthy enough lets see if he won't get what he deserved.
George Opong Weah became the world best like every other world bests because in his time no one allover the world outclassed him as long as soccer was concerned.
If you carry this mentality in your life, it would affect your growth in the work place, life rigorous journey and your asuccess in life ........it was on nairaland here that a Nigeiran in diaspora said that every job you get in Nigeria must be by connection and I said it's a lie.

Let Onazi play like one the world's best midfielders we have today, let's see if his club won't sweat out that money or loose him to the highest bidder.

This guy will be collecting 700k euro per annum, approximately 2000 euros per day and in naira maybe 200k naira per day,yet some people are complaining. Most of those complaining in nigeria earns in a month what this guy will be earning in just 24hrs .

He deserves better

this amount might even include taxes not to talk of what his agent and handlers will be taking from his pay every week.

No joy in Italy.

Lol. I am talking about shaddy handlers on the sides. U think say na beans to play for the Eagles? and keep your place? start from an academy to Italy?

most handlers are usually in Nigeria. from his old academy days, the people that made Italy /SE possible. if you want to keep those privileges, u need to keep wetting the ground continuously. Football is a shady business. just like the cartels.

Goke7: I had always thought that onazi had a slavery contract with Lazio, the guy had better raised his game or else, i pity him o. A better performance by the entire Nigerian team at the world cup would have seen him moved to a better club now, instead they were all counting money overnight before the France game. I know he tried his best at the world cup but Nigerian players should begin to realize that only excellent performances in the National team can make them have better deals with clubs in Europe.

This explains why our so called top striker Emenike is playing in Turkey and will still have the audacity to report to camp late.
