Am very suprise to see that all our nigeria artist are not making money from music, if you ask someone when last he/she ever bought is favourity artist album they will reply with. 'I never bought album since i wast born will always download it through the internet include videos.

America introduce internet to us, and when there artist release an album they sold like 1 million on the first week, Anaconda video by nicki minaj have 10 million on youtube in 24urs not to talk about the full album.

So what is wrong with nigerias, many of our nigeria celebrity always flash there cars, money, cloths, Shoe on instagram. but still a tanant.

Eminem– worth $160 million

To be fair, the US has a population of over 300 million, and on average, Americans have more disposable income (I think!). Taking this into account, it's understandable why Nigerian artists would sell less albums (in Nigeria, that this!). Even in the US (and other Western countries), illegal downloading of music, or music streaming services such as Spotify (though with Spotify you have to pay a monthly fee) is very popular. People are buying less albums, and they're buying more singles. Before the internet became popular, Western artists sold a lot more albums than artists do now. Now people purchase individual singles on iTunes, or stream individual singles if they don't like the album. Before you could store things on iPods, mp3 players, mobile phones, etc., buying a whole disc with an individual song was pointless, meaning more albums were purchased. A lot of artists aren't happy with the new streaming trend (Taylor Swift being a good example), and have spoken out against it, and refuse to put their music on these platforms. They don't get a fraction of the amount of money they'd earn from legal downloading, but the streaming and illegal downloading of their music is unavoidable. Music artists make a lot of money from touring and stuff. undecided
