Parents Pay Bribe For Children’s Admission To Eton- Dailymail by oluwadanie1(m): 12:17pm On Oct 05, 2014
Pushy foreign parents desperate to get their children into
top boarding schools in Britain are taking drastic measures
to secure their places, according to Dailymail.
One determined Chinese mother tried to send hundreds of
Harrods hampers to newcomers at Eton, while a Brazilian
man whose son had missed the deadline to apply pulled a
handgun on an educational consultant.

Others tried to buy cars for teachers or give more money
than owed when the annual fees were due, it has been
revealed. Their desperate efforts were exposed by an
educational consultant who insists the rules can be bent for
no one.

Rupert Syme, head of Lionheart Education, which runs a
consultancy, tutoring agency and school, said told The
Times: ‘I can’t even start the process of getting your child
into Eton if you miss the registration date even if you point
a handgun at me in my own office as per one enraged
overseas gentleman. ‘If the hundreds of UK-based parents
we advise every year feel the need for help, it is hardly
surprising that overseas parents want the same.
‘The problem is that many agents within the UK see
international parents as a “cash cow.’’
In November it was revealed more than 1,000 pupils had
sought entry to Eton – a record number of applications for
the famous school. The school’s tutor for admissions said
at the time he feared boys were being over prepared for
their entrance exams.

He warned parents against ‘allowing your son to be
prepared’ for Eton’s interview and entry test, saying the
school did not want ‘the boys to sound like mini-adults.’
Britain’s top boarding schools are the envy of the world, but
parents from across the globe are using extreme tactics in
the fight to win a place for their children.
The educational consultant told Dailymail that a handgun
was pulled on him because a Brazilian man’s son had
missed the deadline for applying to Eton.

Online source said Eton College, often informally referred
to as Eton, is an English independent boarding school
located in Eton, Berkshire, near Windsor. It educates over
1,300 pupils, aged between 13 and 18 years and was
founded in 1440 by King Henry VI as “The King’s College of
Our Lady of Eton besides Wyndsor.”

‘’Eton is one of nine English independent schools, commonly
referred to as “public schools’, included in the original
Public School Act 1868. Following the public school
tradition, Eton is a full boarding school, which means all
pupils live at the school, and is one of four such remaining
single-sex boys’ public schools in the United Kingdom (the
others being Harrow School, Radley School College and
Winchester College) to continue this practice. It has
educated 19 British Prime Ministers and generations of
aristocracy, and has been referred to as the chief nurse of
England’s statesmen. Eton has a long list of distinguished
former pupils. David Cameron is the nineteenth British
Prime Minister to have attended Eton,’’ it added.
