But still, another elephant in the room.....and it is our old friend and fave pachyderm....Mr Finances.

Back in 2009, Oby Ezekwesili(nowadays wanting to bring back our girls, but back then in charge of our girls and boys education), evolved a plan whereby the FGC's would be run as public private partnerships. She even had the private partnerships lined up....and ready to go.

But the plan was DOA....dead on arrival, with a DNR (Do not resuscitate) slapped on for good measure.

Everybody and his mother promptly accused the World Bank Miss of ''preventing poor Nigerians from getting an education''

So, Madam E left the schools as they were....poorly funded, and with large populations to boot.And since she left the Education Ministry.....there has been no increase in funding for education....talkless of our unity schools.

Now...it is becoming difficult to pay salaries...because the oyel money is not enough....and because fees paid at these schools are kept low.

Well, the strike has been called off. But until the funding issue is addressed....the poor will have their cheap education....and several years later will find out how much of an expensive joke their cheap education has been....when they lose out to Rich man's Private School and European University Graduate Child.

Funding for education has to go up....or we pay for better education via high school fees and higher taxes. We have no choice.
